ABAGAIL GREY was practically dead. She never smiled, never stayed happy for too long. She was empty and cut off. No one could reach her, not even her life long best friend, Caden. Her closed off nature, unbeknownst to her, was slowly jeopardizing her role as the pack's future beta-in-line. As a young werewolf, she did everything for the pack and by the pack.
“Abby you’re going to miss the bus!" Her Aunt March called, walking into her room uninvited to smirk at her niece. This was her legal guardian now - for the past eight years.
Abagail turned to stare at her Aunt, unamused as always, while she was putting in an eyebrow piercing. “Whatever." She shrugged, answering her Aunt blankly. Aunt March had dyed raven black hair and crows feet - making her an inviting presence - she also had two sons under the age of seven.
Abagail on the other hand, had wavy auburn hair and fair skin - face unblemished except for the collection of freckles littering her nose - and her hazel eyes were something she was told were pretty, when she wasn’t scowling at everybody. But she knew if she wasn't scowling - they looked empty and lifeless.
‘Just because you’re next in line for Beta doesn’t mean you need to be intimidating.’ Her Aunt always told her all the time - even if she herself was a troublemaker in her youth. But being the Beta-in-line was no easy task, she still had to help out, learn and train - alongside her best friend and future-in-line Alpha Caden.
The two were a dynamic duo.
“Bye Aunt.” Abagail shot over her shoulder, her leather jacket on, nails painted black and blue skinny jeans she ripped herself. She got onto the bus - wearing her signature scowl Cadencouldn’t pick her up for school so she was landed on the schools public transport.
People quieted down and sunk into their seat as she stalked past - taking slow steps as if assessing her prey. Everyone eyed her, waiting for her to make a decision. But Abagail kept walking - eyes on the back row.
“Move.” she growled, watching the humans - and a few younger werewolves - run off in fear. She now had the back seat all to herself. She sat down, staring out at the bus as all went back to normal.
DANIEL wiped his sunglasses clean. He always wore them where ever he went. His motorbike was purring as he parked in the schools lot - his werewolf hearing picking up on anyone who would try and confront him. He had turned eighteen a month ago - had been on house arrest to find the one within his pack. He had no luck.
“What do you think happened in a girls childhood to make her such a bitch?” Caleb, Daniels only friend, asked - his hair black and messy - blue eyes narrowed. His hair matching his wolfs coat.
"Who are you talking about?" He muttered, thankful he was allowed back at school. His Mother had been terrified that his mate was from another pack. They guessed she was - now that he hadn't found her within the minimal leash he had been given. "Don't I get a welcome back?"
"I'm talking about Abagail Grey. Her and her pack brutes threw a milkshake on my car." Caleb replied, eyes searching for his girlfriend Holly. They weren't mates - but Daniel knew they were casual sex buddies.
Daniel adjusted his shades before turning to his friend. “Somebody said a boy broke her heart.” He offered, not paying attention as he spent time looking at a few girls he passed. No mate.
“More like she broke the boy and nobody knows where the body is.” Caleb murmered, watching as Holly walked up to them - tight pink dress. He knew it was probably against the dress code. It barely made it halfway down her thigh.
"Found your mate yet?" Holly asked, crinkling up her nose.
“No.” Daniel admitted. Suddenly he stopped, rigid, running a hand to fix his sandy blonde hair. He could have sworn his heart skipped a beat - there was a glorious smell and his wolf screamed mate. But he couldn't see her. As if Holly's words had triggered his inner being.
“You'll find your little soulmate whenever.” Caleb shrugged, making out with Holly instantly. All three of them had a decent build, fighting in wolf form more than anything.
“I’ll think about it.” Daniel mumbled.
DANIEL and ABAGAIL barely thought twice on the others existence. But the twos worlds were going to collide - neither planned for it.
