The Road of Love

Chapter Seven

Gerald had called as promised but Emma didn't answer.
She didn't want to see him after what Livia said earlier.
If he did like her like Livia said then she was not going to entertain him.
The phone rang again and she didn't bother to look at the caller.
She thought it was Gerald and yes it was him.
"Doesn't he know if you call someone once or twice without any answer it means stop calling?" Emma asked herself.
She answered the call with disinterest.
"Hello Emma" Gerald said.
"Hi" she replied.
"Did I disturb you?" he asked.
"Yes... eerrmm, no" she replied.
"I told you I'd call" Gerald said nervously.
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that" she replied rolling her eyes.
He didn't know what to say so he told her he'd call back again but before he could hang up Emma spoke...
"Please hold on a minute" Emma said not sure of what she was about to do.
She didn't know if it was the right thing to say but she hoped it was.
"I really appreciate your care and things you've done for me but please don't call me again" she finished and regretted saying it.
"Oh ok, I'm sorry" Gerald said and before Emma could say anything else he was off the line.
"What did I just do?" Emma asked herself continuously.
"What is he going to think of me?" she lamented.
"Let me call him and apologize" she said and purses her lips.

Gerald kept staring at the phone after what Emma said earlier.
He was still in shock. He stated at the phone for thirty seconds and put it down.
He was never wanted but couldn't see. Well, now he knows.

"What did you just do?" Livia asked surprised.
"I told you be likes you just to tease you" she said throwing her hands in the air.
"Are you serious?" Emma asked with a sheepish look.
"Well you should have told me" she went on feeling guilty for doing what she did.
"Call him and say sorry" Livia said quietly.
"I don't think he'll answer it" she said standing up.
"Just do it, Em" Livia pressed.
"Ok fine" Emma said taking her phone from her phone from her pocket.
She dialed Gerald's number.
No one answered the call.
She called again but no one answered this time also.
"He didn't answer the call" Emma said and looked at an anxious Livia.
"What came over you?" Livia asked again not expecting an answer from a guilty feeling Emma.
Emma just looked at her. She dialed Gerald's number for the third time in two minutes.

"Are you going to answer the call or not?" Vivian, Gerald's sister asked for the fifth time.
"Do you want to answer it?" he asked.
"If you want me to" Vivian replied.
The phone stopped ringing when Vivian was about to answer it.
"Is it your girlfriend?" Vivian asked and shifted on her seat.
"No" Gerald replied.
"What did she do to you?" Vivian asked getting serious.
"Why are your ears so itchy?" he asked looking at the thirteen year old girl who acted like she knows everything about love and relationships.
"I'll tell you but keep it a secret" he said and gave her a sweet smile.
"Cross my heart" she replied eagerly.
"She's my course mate in school and I helped her when she fell down" Gerald said and looked away.
"Is that all you have to say about her?" she asked sounding disappointed.
"Yes" he replied.
"Oh ok, I thought there was more to the story" she said standing up.
"That's all" Gerald replied and stood up too.
"Before you go to your room, remember when my friend fought with me and I didn't want to talk to her?, she stopped midway and continued, "you told me to forgive and forget so do same" she finished and walked to the kitchen.
"Don't let your emotions rule you" he heard himself telling Emma.
"I'm going to call only once" he said to himself and dialled Emma's number.
