It was Halloween day and unlike half of the kids, teens and adults in Chicago Diamonte sat in the cafe at the mall sucking on a lollipop while reading. She was waiting on Carrie who decided to go last minute shopping for her catwoman outfit, to come back so they could leave. Diamonte felt there was no reason to go to the party that they threw every Halloween that ended with girls waking up the next morning not knowing where they were. The parties were filled with Marijuana clouds, old men looking for a sugar baby, teens who were too young to drink getting wasted, and girls with no morals. So instead of being dragged to yet another party, Diamonte was staying home and hoping Bar would do the same."Hey." Diamonte didn't bother to lift her head up because she was in the middle of a sentence in her book. The guy that was trying to approach her, who's name was Dennis watched as she turned another page before finally looked up at him. "What?" Diamonte held a disgusted look on her face, mainly because she hated being bothered while reading and/or drawing.
"You cheer for south grants right?" Diamonte rolled her eyes, "Why?"
"What a bitch." Dennis mumbled before walking away. Diamonte couldn't help that she was so nonchalant about everything, that's how she taught herself to be so people couldn't read her. "Look at what I got for us!"
"For us?" Diamonte repeated confused. "Yeah, they had some buy one get one free sale so I got you one too! We can be twins. And it looks sexy on me so I know it'll hug ya body just right!" Diamonte just stares at the suit that Carrie pulled from her bag, whiles she licks the Strawberry flavored lollipop before laughing. "Carrie I know you my girl and everything but you have to be on drugs if you even think I'ma put that on." Diamonte helped Carrie carry some of her bags as they walked outside.
"What you plan on doing tonight since you're not going to the party?"
"I get off at eight then Damien is going to come pick me up so we can have dinner together."
"Wow! How did that happen? I thought you said, you didn't want anything to do with him?"
"I didn't but he's my father." Diamonte never thought the day would come when she'd actually sit down and have a real conversation with her father but she wanted to make a change in her life. She hated walking around mad at the world because of the unanswered questions she had in her head. She didn't know if she was going to ask Damien everything she wanted to know but she at least wanted to sit down and have a conversation with him. Carrie pulled up to the back of the center and opened her cellphone. "I have to pick up Herb and Mally." Carrie said to Diamonte before she could even ask. Diamonte nodded her head and looked at the basketball court where the boys were. Carrie took a deep breath before getting out the car to go yell at the boys who were hanging by the gate drinking. Diamonte laughed when she saw Bibby's arm around this white girl who shorts were too short. It didn't make her feel some type of way because it was a typical move that she figured would happen.
Putting the water bottle down Diamonte buttoned up her pants before turning around to see, Eazy-E walking into her room. Diamonte couldn't help but laugh at her brother halloween costume.
"What you laughing fa? I know, I look good." Bar smoothed out his black and red T-shirt that had the letters NWA on it as Diamonte held her stomach, she began to feel a sharp pain from all the laughing she was doing. But she couldn't get pass the Jheri curl wig he had on. "Let me guess, Herb and them are the rest of the group?"
"You know it." Bar wiped off his already clean shoes. "You coming to the party after work?"
"Definitely not, I'ma pop some popcorn for me and the kids since you already know Mima not going to be here." Georgie and Tayla was going to be staying next door with the neighbors until Diamonte got off of work. Mima left earlier today and told Diamonte she was going to be back hours ago but yet, she was nowhere to be found.
