KATHERINE'S POV
When I finally arrived by foot, yes by foot in six inch heels, my breath was taken away. The place was absolutely beautiful... There were lights everywhere, the grass was mowed to perfection, bushes trimmed into magnificent almost impossible looking shapes.... It was fantastic. It had a romantic feel to it.... A perfect place to meet your mate. I sighed and kept walking until I reached the entrance. The nerves started to eat me alive and questions filled my head. What if I don't make it out alive? What if I embarrass myself! What if I mess up my chance of being normal for one night? All these questions of 'What ifs played through my head. I shook off the thoughts and went on with my journey. Nervously, I rolled my ankles around, a habit I developed to help me relax as much as I can.
I went in and followed a long corridor that lead up to these huge grand doors. "Welcome, ma'm." A voice suddenly said, startling me.
"Oh, hello." I replied nervously, my palms growing moist.
"Go right in, miss," the man motioned towards the doors, which slowly opened and I slowly went through them with graceful steps, careful not to fall. That would be embarrassing. I froze right there on the spot as everything in the room froze along with me. Literally. I could feel envious glares me along with a few lustful ones, and not only from the males.
I took a deep breath and shyly went down the stairs, feeling pressured from all the attention I was receiving. At the bottom of the steps waited a pair of grey eyes.... Xander. He held his hand out to me.
"May I have this dance?" He asked me, his hand held out for me to take.
"Yes, you may." I did one of those fancy little bows girls do, bringing my right foot back, grabbing a piece of fabric and lifted it a little while dipping a few inches. He gently took my hand and that's when I felt it. A tingling sensation that traveled from my hand up my arm.
'Sparks...' my wolf whispered to me.
Xander smiled a breathtaking smile and led me to the dance floor. People parted like the Red Sea while we passed them. A slow song come on, as though on cue. Slowly, we lifted our arms, our hands entwined, his hand on my waist while my other hand rested on his shoulder. Then we went all around the ball room, dancing gracefully, almost floating, as people watched in awe.
I never knew I could do something with grace before. And look at me now, dancing with a man as though it was second nature. I don't know why I continued to dance with him, I know it felt right though. Like I fit perfectly in his arms. At that moment I forgot about all my problems... Family... School.... The pack... Alphas.... Mates.... And my life. It flew right out of my mind and I just enjoyed the moment.
The song finally came to an end and we parted a few inches. And he said the words I have feared for my entire life...
"Hello, Mate."
