KATHERINE'S POV
I tried to get my breathing in check and my body to stop shaking. My wolf began shifting around in head, probably excited to meet her mate after so many days away from him. I began to feel guilty. My wolf was attached to someone like me, someone who valued to nothing, someone who cannot give her the life she deserves, the freedom she longs for.
I shook off the thoughts and went inside my room and looked through all the old clothes pack members had thrown away. It's the only reason why I have any clothes at all.
I smiled when I saw a long white dress with long saggy sleeves. It had one of those clear-ish kind of fabric and many layers of it too. Maybe I can use this? I thought as I imagined my new project. Perhaps I could just trim the hem and the sleeves. When I found everything I needed, I picked up the pile and walked to my sewing machine. It is an old rusted one that broke years ago, but I was able to fix it and function somewhat, so I took it in and learned how to use it to make myself clothes.
About 20 minutes later, I held a beautiful dress in my hand. It was simple and plain with a band around my waist that I got from the hem I chopped off. It was formal yet casual. I looked at the cracked mirror that was stained age. I smiled. It was a beautiful dress. If only it had a beautiful girl to go with it.
I looked down and couldn't help but smile at my homemade sandals. All I did to make them was cut out that plastic that you get from the packaging that children's toys com from and made them the shape and size of my feet. I put cotton balls as a filler and pieces of cardboard on tip to make it sturdy and even and put another plastic. Then using a hot glue gun, I glued a brown fabric to it on both ends. After that I wrapped it in another cloth and glued that on. On the bottom I covered a card board with brown duct tape as the shape of my foot and glued the whole thing on it. I put a smaller piece the shape of half an oval on the bottom to make it look like a real sandal. Then to hold it to my feet, I braided a stretchy, brown fabric and sewed it in the back to hold it together.
It took me months to gather all the materials and to figure out how to make it. But I am proud of how they turned out, even if they look a bit rough around the edges.
I fishtailed my hair on my right side and tide it with a violet bow I cut from one of the dresses in my pile of scrap clothes.
DING DONG!*
I froze as I heard a bell. The door bell.
They're here...
