Ch. 6 SAY WHAT?!

"WHY DOES THE UNIVERSE HATE ME?!??" I thought to myself bitterly.

     I honestly felt like crying right now. Of all people, he has to be my mate? The man my sister desires? This is just wonderful! Note the sarcasm.

      Are you freaking serious?! This is a dream isn't it.... Ow. Okay, not a dream, not a dream! Abort, abort! Run! This is code something, I don't know! I think I'm seeing stars right now...

'I didn't know there was a glass ceiling.' I thought as I began to feel dizzy.

"Are you okay?" He spoke again, making this all the bit more real. Oh no.

"What... Mate.... This.... Happening... I don't want..." I started mumbling a bunch of nonsense and I saw his eyes harden.

"What? Are you not accepting me, mate? I'm an alpha dear, I won't let you 'reject' me-" I flinched a bit at the word reject. Not thinking clearly, I dashed away, my skirt flying everywhere. I was hyperventilating, this wasn't supposed to be happening! I was supposed to find my mate and finally escape from this pack. Him being my mate not only locks me within the confines of this pack, but also shoves me into a corner, one where I will forever be poked and prodded. Brittany will also never leave me alone after this.

"Stop her!" I heard heavy footsteps behind me and there wasn't just one set of feet chasing after me. Oh jeez. What am I supposed to do now? Uuuuuuuhhhh..... Think! I scanned my surroundings for an escape route. A door! The grand doors! I pushed myself to basically fly up the steps that lead to the grand doors through which I entered the ball earlier.

'It's so close, yet so far.' I never truly knew the impact of that saying until now! Oh the irony! I'm going to die.. Goodbye world! I thought as I ran towards the key to my freedom.

Just keep running, just keep running. I sang in my head like Dori did in Finding Nemo. I nearly shouted for joy when I made it out the door, but I couldn't rejoice just yet. Now all I have to do is lose them. I looked around in panic when I still heard the thundering footsteps and they were getting closer. I kept looking until I saw the forest, remembering I built an underground fortress in there with the help of a man I once knew. I pivoted on my heel and dashed towards the direction of my potential safe haven.

Running into the woods, I realized that even though I had managed to hide my scent, they could still see my tracks . I needed to get out of here without leaving any clues behind. When I was  a good distance inside the woods, I pricked my finger, drawing blood and placed that blood on various trees, leaving my scent in places that hint that I could have gone in  various directions so that they would get lost.

 I quickly climbed a big tree so that I wouldn't leave any footprints on the ground, my dress getting caught and tearing on the way up. Looks like I'm going to be tree hopping. When I made sure of my plan, I held my skirt and began jumping branch to branch, but stopped a few minutes later and crouched on a branch, trying to keep my heartbeat and my breathing as quiet as possible.

"Any signs of her?" I heard a voice that made my heart melt but my body quiver in fear. Xander. He was near. He was right below me.

"Her scent is everywhere, sir, and her tracks suddenly cut off. We can't detect where exactly she went." I heard a pack member say.

"Damn it! So what, she just disappeared into thin f*cking air?!" I heard my mate curse, causing me to flinch. He seemed quite upset. I was the cause of that. 

"Find her! I don't care how but I want her as soon as possible! Find your Luna and bring her to me!" He roared at the men who were quaking in their boots but nodded obediently and watchef as their future Alpha stormed away.

SAY WHAT NOW!?
