Kerrie and Dylan

Zola finally reached Moonestone hill. She was exhausted after all that running so she lay back and rested her head of the palms of her hands, while Coby raced around jumping and prancing. Zola chuckled and closed her eyes.

" hey there." spoke a boy's voice in Zola's head.
" hello are you awake?" irritably questioned a girl.
" calm down Kerrie I think she's asleep." Replied the boy.
Suddenly Zola felt a warm hand on her arm.
"Ahh!" Zola yelled as she jumped up to find two faces staring at her.
Coby came bounding over but then stood in front of Zola and growled at the strangers.
"Woah sorry we were just seeing if you were okay." Explained the girl " My name is Kerrie and this- wait are you guys even listening!
Zola and the boy just stared at each other.It was like an electric spark was jumping between them. Zola was intrigued, she had never met anyone her age before because she was home schooled by Granny but Zola didn't expect to meet someone like this.
" He-Hey." Stuttered the boy looking away.
" Hi." Replied Zola blushing furiously.
"Oh come on aren't you going to introduce yourself! You aren't usually shy with me Dylan!" Exclaimed Kerrie angrily tugging at his arm.
"Oh um yeah I'm Dylan. Yeah me and Kerrie we are um getting away from this war." Explained the boy still staring at Zola.
" And your name is?" Asked Kerrie.
" My name is Zola but I'm not sure if I mean oh never mind!" Zola told them but then she realised that they could be spy's so Zola jumped up with her rucksack and picked up Coby's leash.
"Wait!" Shouted the boy grabbing Zola's arm. "Were are you heading too?" Questioned Dylan.

Suddenly Coby ran over to Dylan and started licking and scratching him. Coby then turned to Zola with a pleading look and for some strange reason Zola got the feeling that he was telling her that Dylan and Kerrie weren't spy's. Zola sighed and explained to them she was getting away from the war too and was taking her dog, Coby with her. The whole time Dylan listened intently while leaning towards Zola but Kerrie didn't seem the slightest bit bothered. Once Zola finished Dylan smiled and for a while the four of them just stared at the evening sky. " wow time really did fly by didn't it!" Said Dylan, sounding genuinely shocked. Zola looked over at Kerrie. She was very pretty. She had a sharp angular face and perfect blonde hair in a pixie cut. Her dark, mysterious blue eyes longingly stared at Dylan and Zola could see she was eager to have Dylan's attention. Dylan and Zola practically chatted all through the evening until there was barely any light left.

" Dylan lets get going." Suggested Kerrie leaning her head on his shoulder.
" okay. I guess it is getting quite late. Zola have you got a place to stay? " wondered Dylan.
" Unfortunately no but I better get going and try and find one." Explained Zola.
" Thank God!" Muttered Kerrie under her breath. Zola felt hurt, she didn't think her and Kerrie got off on the right foot. Dylan glared at Kerrie.
" I know why don't we all travel together!" Suggested Dylan.
He looked so pleased with himself that both girls looked at each other and dissolved into giggles and Coby barked happily with them.
" What?" Laughed Dylan.
So it was decided that they would all travel together. Zola and Coby followed them into the forest where there was a large tent. When they entered Zola's jaw dropped open. It was amazing. On the floor there was lots of leaves and moss and a pretty little purple lamp lit up the strings of fruit on the walls.
" Zola you can sleep there on the floor? " said Kerrie as if she was speaking to a five year old.
" No! Zola you can take my bed I will sleep on the floor!" Exclaimed Dylan.
After listening to them squabble it was decided, after a dinner of baked beams and toast for them and dog food for Coby from Zola's rucksack, that Zola slept in the middle of the two of them. And Coby would sleep at their feet.

"Night." Sighed Kerrie as she reached for the light switch.
Zola turned to stare at Dylan's face lit up by the moonlight. He had light brown hair covering his face, tanned skin with freckles and earlier Zola saw that he had beautiful light blue eyes with flecks of gold in them. Zola closed her eyes and thought about the events of the day. Suddenly Zola felt a hand tickling her neck. She she squeaked and opened her eyes to see Dylan grinning at her. She tickled the back of his neck with her hand. They both laughing hysterically while trying to remove each others hands from their necks. " some of us are trying to sleep here!" Whispered Kerrie irritably, suddenly Coby did a loud snort and they all fell about laughing but after a while they had all fallen asleep to the steady snoring of the husky laying at their feet.
