Kerrie

Note: this part of the story is told from Kerrie's point of view!

Throughout the night I tossed and turned I couldn't stop thinking that this weird Zola girl was going to kill us. I mean she looks like a full Anopheles just without wings. Well I know that me and Dylan are the only half Anopheles and half humans on this Earth but I wasn't going to tell some stranger that any time soon. Also another reason to despise her is that she is stealing Dylan away! He is completely oblivious to the fact she is tricking him and that I am the real beauty. I have had a crush on Dylan ever since we met in the park one day. I was 9 and he was 10 and we've only been friends for five years but we are so close already. I thought Dylan may have felt the same way I do. I mean he is always confident and funny around all the girls but... But in front of Zola he's so shy and well kinda stupid. Ugh I need to find out her secret and use it to bewitch him.

Two strong hands grabbed my shoulders and started to shake me. I groaned and squinted my eyes. It was Dylan. It felt like I was falling, he was saying something but I was just floating on air in his weightless blue eyes and the golden flecks were little pieces of heaven. He sighed and rolled his dreamy eyes then left the tent. I immediately woke up. I turned my head to the left, Zola was still sleeping sound asleep.

" Newbies. " I sighed as I quickly put on my gear and left the tent to catch up with Dylan. He was outside searching the ground.

"Any sign of intruders?" I asked.

" Nope." Replied Dylan.

" come on let's practise. We have to make our powers super strong so that we have defends against the humans sleeping bombs." I said urgently.

" do we have to practise powers now?" Questioned Dylan his lovely smooth voice drawing me in.

" What powers?" Exclaimed Zola as she ran over to us.

I sighed and looked over and Dylan. He nodded and told Zola that we weren't like everyone and we had powers but she mustn't tell a single soul or we would have to get rid of you. Zola looked shocked but then surprisingly nodded. However she then asked if we were humans or Anopheles which was a very dangerous question.

" Zola if you no longer want to stay with us afterwards than you don't have too once we've told you okay. We aren't human and we aren't anopheles." Explained Dylan.

" wait Dylan you can't!" I interrupted.

" we are half of both!" Finished Dylan.

There was silence. I glanced over at Zola. She was... Crying!

She threw her arms over both of us and hugged us tight.

" I'm so glad, I thought I was the only one!" Laughed Zola, crying at the same time.

" wait! You're ...." Stuttered Dylan.

Zola nodded and then they just hugged each other leaving me out.

" so what's your power?" I sighed miserably.

It turned out Zola had no idea that we even had powers. I mean honestly! How stupid can one person get? So for the whole morning we were training Zola to try and find out what power she had.

" wait I want to try something!" Interrupted Zola.

She gestured towards her water bottle and raised her hand. Millions of tiny ants poured out of the ground and brought her bottle to her.

"Thankyou." She said to the small brown ants as they scurried away.

" woah! You have control of animals little one!" Exclaimed Dylan scuffing up her hair.

I was fed up. Fed up of all this with Dylan and Zola. I strode up to Dylan and slapped

him. Hard.

" ouch!" Cried Dylan.

"Kerrie what was that for?" Questioned Zola.

" Okay, you and me fight NOW!" I boomed.

Zola silently nodded and followed me to the fighting area.

I stepped forward and punched her hard in the stomach. Zola screamed and then the anger came... Her eyes boiled bright red and her hair flipped madly in the wind. She spun around about to thump me with her leg but I caught it and twisted. I could feel heat coming of my skin and I bared my now fanged teeth. I knew I had fangs because whenever us 50/50 get angry we automatically get fangs. Weird right. Anyway hurting her felt good, it was as if I could vent out my emotions. Zola cried out in pain again. Dylan tried to stop us but it was no use. We were moving faster than a cheetah at full speed.

Zola jumped and I shouted at her. Then everything stopped.

" Zola, are you okay?" Whispered Dylan. Zola peered up staring at us, her eyes brimming with tears. Then something or someones dark, looming shadow stepped forward from behind the tent ready to attack.
