23 • Promise

I send Jihoon to his hideout and lay him on the comfy sofa. I look at his face as he is so sleepy. His lips are dry and pale, it looks like he is dehydrated right now. I put down my things and bag beside the sofa. I go out to buy some food and drinks.

"Hey, where are you going?" He scrunches his face because of the bright light.

"I'll head out for a while. Don't wake up, I'll be quick," I hold his arm and I can feel that his muscles relax a bit. I walk out to a convenience shop near the school. I texted Minho to cover for me because I'm going home late.

I walk along the aisle full of instant food since I can't buy real foods. Restaurants are just too far and I don't have enough money. I buy some instant noodles, kimchi and instant spicy rice cakes. I also buy some caramel puddings, coke and fruit juice. I pay for the foods and run as fast as I can back to school. Without looking anywhere, I get inside and suddenly I feel like some pairs of eyes are watching me. I look up and there are many people in the living room.

[Park Jihoon's POV]

Right after Haneul left, I sit up because my head is spinning and I'm having headache. Suddenly someone burst into my place. I try to look at the persons' face clearly and it's Daehwi, Woojin, GuanLin and Daniel hyung. Daniel hyung worriedly come to me and put his hand on my forehead.

"Hey, what's wrong? You don't seems to have fever," He says as he sits next to me.

"My head hurts so much and I don't have any energy," I say and he asks me to have enough rest. I put my head down and lay myself on the pillow.

They all do their own activities and suddenly someone burst into my place, again. I look at the person and it's Haneul. My face brighten up and I sit on the sofa again.

"Hey! I brought foods," She shouts happily and the situations gone dead silence. She lifts her head up and I can see that she's suprised.

"Sorry for the mess," Daehwi says spontaneously.

"Who is she?" Daniel hyung asks and Guanlin put his hand on his shoulder, signing that it's a long story. Daniel hyung smiles brightly at her. She awkwardly smiles back and hands me the foods.

"Don't you want to company me?" I ask her in a low voice.

"Umm, they are here and.. it's awkward by the way," She scratches his head cutely and I smile.

"It's okay," I say. "Hey guys, I'm going to eat with Haneul so please don't interrupt us," I say and take her hands to the dining place. We make the foods together using the microwave and all and in a minute, it all served in front of our eyes.

"I'm sorry I couldn't buy you something real.. I mean real food. It's just too far and I.. don't have enough money," She regretted that she could not buy me an actual food.

"No, this is enough. I'm thankful though you bought me foods and stuffs." I hold her hand which is on the table. She blushes at my touch and we both start eating.

"So I was going to ask, why didn't you eat yesterday? You could die!" She exclaims in an angry yet cute expression.

"Promise me you won't feel guilty?" I ask and she nods while munching on her food. "I was waiting for your call.. and fell asleep until this morning. I was late so I don't have time to eat," I say and she puts her chopstick down.

"Yaa, why did you do that?" She pouts angrily.

"Hahaha don't worry okay? I'm all good now," I say to let her feel at ease.

"But I saw the paper bag under your desk, isn't it food?" She asks.

"I gave it to Woojin. He likes my lunch and I didn't feel like it during lunch," I grin and she laughs.

After we finish eating, I take all the empty containers and put it in a plastic bag. Haneul washes some plates and glass at the sink. I stand next to her but she didn't say anything. I nudge her arm but she just laugh. I go behind her and put my hand between hers on the sink counter.

"What are you trying to do?" Haneul tries to get rid from my grip.

"No, please stay. I'll just want to have this moment with you," I say and sniff her hair and breath normally.

"Your breath tickles!" She exclaims cutely and turn around to face me. Her face is now so close to mine. I look into her eyes and try to close our gaps together.

"Hyung!" Guanlin suddenly shouts and I close my eyes in frustration. "Where did you put my earph- oh! Sorry!!!" He shouts back and run to the living room before I could say anything else.

"Jihoon-ah, Jisung hyung called me earlier- oh, mm can I take Jihoon for a while, Haneul?," Daniel hyung enters the kitchen and call out for me. I look at him and Haneul peeks her head to look at Daniel hyung. Haneul nods and I finally take my hands off the sink counter.

"I won't be long," I say to her and ruffle her hair.

"It's okay, I'll go home now, um- Minho! Minho is already here to pick me up," She suddenly says and take her things.

"Thanks for today," She says and heads out.

"Jihoon, we need to talk," Daniel hyung says and I sit on the sofa again. "Can you guys play in the kitchen for a while?" He asks them to leave as he wants to discuss something important with me.

After they left, Daniel hyung looks at me seriously. "What the hell was that?" He says in a half-whisper voice.

"What?" I ask innocently.

"You told me that you would not have a girlfriend and it's a promise that we can't bring anyone else in here," He says. I look at the ground.

"Yes, that was the deal but please hear my explanation!" And then Daniel hyung stops talking.

"That's not my girlfriend.. not yet.." I say the last words in a quiet voice. "But you need to give me a chance! I'm promising you now that I won't cheat again, and she will be my last. I can guarantee that," I say and Daniel hyung sighs. "I promise you! This is the last time, okay?" I look at him with hopes.

"Okay, but if you cheat on her or she rejects you, I would not help you deal with your problem," He says and walks out to the door. I sigh and ruffles my hair in frustration.

I will make sure that it won't happen...
