As Luke said, he picked me up from outside the record store as soon as my shift finished.
"Hey, how are you?" He asked
"I'm good, you? Oh by the way I'm sorry that I ran out of your apartment like that the other day..."
"It's fine, I'm just glad that you are okay. Um, I asked my friend Ashton to come and eat lunch with us, is that okay?"
"Yeah sure I don't mind, as long as I'm not spending my lunch break in the fusty back room of the store than I'm good!"
He laughed at my response. Normally I would find these sort of situations awkward where no-one talks, but that wasn't the case. Me and Luke chatted the whole way to the small cafe and didn't stop until we got to our table where the was a boy with dirty blonde curly hair. I figured this must be Ashton. He was wearing jeans, a band tshirt and a bandana? He was on his phone and concertrating on it so hard he didn't even realise we had approached the table. Luke tapped his shoulder.
"Hey Ash" Luke said.
"Oh hey Luke! How are yo- wait! who is this? You didn't tell me you had a girlfriend!"
"We're not dating!" I blurted out. Ashton raised his eyebrows at my sudden outburst.
"We met at the record store the other day and have started hanging out together" Luke finished the sentence for me and I could feel my cheeks heating up.
"Oh well then, hi, my names Ashton." He stuck his hand out to me.
"Eloise" I replied shaking his hand. He did a bow at the end before sitting in his seat. I ended up sitting next to Luke. Lunch went past in a blur, and Ashton told me that he was going to college close to here. He also told me that they had known each other for a little while, since Ashton moved here 5 years ago.
Soon enough, we were parked in front of the store sitting in silence. Luke looked out the front window with one hand on the steering wheel. He didn't look away when he asked me
"So why did you run away that night?"
