How You Meet: Liam

 

You laugh as your best friends tells you a funny story, the two of you were currently sitting on a park bench. You guys were eating frozen yogurt and telling each other funny stories about your vacations and stuff.  The only person here was across the path with his head down sitting on the other bench. Your friend’s phone goes off and she squeals in delight.

“What?” you ask.

“Liam Payne just tweeted a picture!” she says shoving her phone in your face.

You roll your eyes and look at the picture, noticing something familiar about the picture. You read the caption for the picture and it says…

@Real_Liam_Payne: Sitting across from one of the most beautiful girls I’ve ever seen. Shh! She doesn’t know that I took this picture.

Your eyes go wide as you recognize yourself and your best friend in the picture, “um..y/b/f/n?”

“What?” she asks.

“Notice anything familiar about that picture?” you ask looking around.

“No wh…Hey! That’s us!” she exclaims.

“Yep” you say.

“But that means that Liam Payne is here in the park….” she says.

“Deep breaths y/b/f/n, in and out” you say.

She takes a deep breath and looks around, “Where do you think he is?” she asks.

You shrug.

“He’s standing right behind you” Liam says.

You and your friend both whirl around and find yourselves looking at Liam.

“Hello” y/b/f/ says.

“Hello” Liam says with a chuckle.

You give a weak wave and Liam shoots you a breath-taking smile.

“Um…so, why did you take a picture of us?” y/b/f asks.

“Oh…well it was because I saw a beautiful girl and I couldn’t help but share the picture with the world” he says nodding in your direction.

You blush and look down at your yogurt, which was currently a frozen puddle in the bottom of your cup.

“I’m y/b/f/n and this is y/n” she says nudging you.

You shoot her a look and she laughs.

“You’ll have to excuse y/n…she gets nervous around guys” y/b/f says.

“I do not!” you protest.

You lock eyes with Liam and he smiles at you and you can’t help but smile back.

“I’m Liam” he says sticking his hand out to shake.

Y/b/f shakes his hand and not wanting to be rude you stick out your hand. Liam brings it to his lips and kisses your hand, keeping his eyes lock with yours.

“Nice to meet you” he says.

“Nice to meet you too” you say.

Your best friend looks between the two of you and then jumps up.

“I should go throw these cups away” she says grabbing your cup and walking off.

“Is she always like that?” Liam asks.

“Nope, sometimes she’s much worse” you say with a laugh.

“Well I can’t wait to hear about that” Liam says.

“What makes you think you will hear about it?” you ask.

“Because you’re going to go on a date with me and there is no way you’ll say no” he says.

“What if I do?” you ask.

“Then I’ll have my million of followers tweet you until you say yes” Liam says.

“Oh, I’m shaking in my boots” you laugh.

“You should be” he says laughing with you.

“Since it’s date your or be subjected to my phone crashing from all the tweets….I guess going on a date with you won’t be that bad” you say.

“Great, I’ll call you with the details” he says handing you his number.

“Okay” you say.

He looks down at his phone and the smiles at you.

“I have to go but it was lovely meeting you, I’ll expect that phone call before the end of the day” he says.

“What if I don’t call you?” you call out as he walks away.

“Oh, you’ll call…You won’t be able to resist calling” he says.

You nod and look down at the piece of paper in your hand with Liam’s number on it and smile. Your best friend’s One Direction obsession wasn’t so bad after all.
