My Little Koneko-chan (Kisshu and Ichigo Fanfic)

Chapter 22

Kisshu's POV

Fugi and I stopped fighting once there was a loud thunk coming farther down the tunnel.

Ichigo is there.

Fugi and I run as fast as we can once we hear the faint sound of sobbing.

Blood.

That is the first thing we see. It's everywhere. Fugi and I both freeze at the horrific sight. Kuro was the one sobbing. He's clutching a bloody key in his hand.

I look to my right and a combination of relief and absolute terror comes over me. Ichigo is standing there still, staring at the bloody corpse. She's shaking.

I run over to her and wrap my arms around her holding her tightly to my body. I rub the top of her head and gently push it into my neck to to stop her from seeing the body. I can feel my shirt begin to soak from her tears.

"Shhhh... it's ok baby... I got you baby," I continue to whisper sweet nothings into her ear. She holds me tighter. I turn around to face Fugi while keeping Ichigo against me with her head down.

Fugi eyes are casted over by a shadow.

"Look at me..." Kuro whimpers as he stares at Fugi. "LOOK AT ME GODDAMNIT!" Kuro yells.

"I forgive you..." Fugi whispers as he goes closer to the prison cell and pries the keys from Kuro's hand. He then unlocks the door letting Kuro free. Kuro wraps his hands around Fugi, but Fugi just shrugs him off.

"I just wanted to start over. I didn't care who I hurt as long as I got to be with you and Ren. I didn't care about that girl... Deep Blue... Earth... I just wanted to have my family. Ren told me the only way that could happen is if we helped him get revenge so we can live in peace. Now he's gone. Our brother is gone. You have killed him," Fugi's tear finally to finally fall from his cheeks, the only sign of emotion after the tragedy. He continued, "My dream is now gone. I will never be able to have the family I wanted, it will never be the same."

All of a sudden, I could hear the faint scratchy noise coming from my walkie-talkie.

"You gotta get... there... now... 3 minutes left."

The voice was urgent, but it was too hard to hear as it continued to break apart.

"Portal opening... 3 minutes... where... the first place."

"We gotta go," I stated urgently, "I think the portal back to Earth is opening and we don't have a lot of time."

Kuro grabbed Fugi, but Fugi wouldn't move. Kuro picked up Fugi and put him on his back, not giving Fugi an option anymore. I swung Ichigo up into my arms in bridal style.

"I can walk." She whispered, but her body was still shaking so, I just held her tighter.

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!!" A familiar voice erupted. Deep Blue.

"IM SICK OF YOU STUPID PEASANTS AND YOUR BETRAYAL! I GUESS ILL JUST HAVE TO DO IT BY MYSELF NEXT TIME!!"

The ground began to shake abruptly and pieces from the ceiling began to fall. We all ran out of the cell and I led the way to where I entered. We made it just in time as the portal was there.

"Come on let's go!" I commanded as I began to get ready to jump through, but then Fugi kicked Kuro in the side letting him free. Kuro winced and got back up.

"What are you doing?! We have to go!!" Kuro growled and begged, but Fugi stood there saying nothing. I've never seen him so quiet, this is the complete opposite of his usual self.

I put Ichigo down and wrapped one hand around her and used the other to grab Kuro's hand. More and bigger pieces from the ceiling began to fall down. I noticed the portal beginning to slowly shrink. I tugged on Kuro towards the portal.

"Come on brother! Come on!" Kuro begged. Kuro tried to reach out for him. Ichigo and I were already half way through the portal, but Kuro wouldn't budge anymore. And neither would Fugi. Fugi walked up to Kuro and pushed him hard on the chest sending him backwards into the portal with Ichigo and I.

"I'm sorry."

This was the last thing Fugi said before the whole ceiling collapsed and the portal was closed shut.

We were so wrapped up into everything that we didn't even realize that we were back on Earth.

It was over... for now.

I turn around to see everyone staring at us. Looking shock, until they came to give us a big group hug.

I turn around to still see Kuro sitting by the portal, before I know it I walk up to him and put my hand on his shoulder.

"I want to thank you for saving her" I say.

He scoffs and smirks at me, "I wouldn't say thank you yet, I met just make her fall in love with me instead." I glare at him as begins to laugh, but it fades when he stares back at where the portal once was.

"Kuro!" Ichigo's voice calls out from behind me. She runs past me and hugs Kuro. A pain of jealously come over me, but I don't stop them. Kuro needs this. "Do you need a place to stay. I can buy some sweets and we can watch movies with Kisshu," Ichigo states trying to give Kuro some positivity, but he just returns her gesture with a sad smile.

"You know, you'll never get over this," Ichigo comments. I fall to the floor at her comment and a tear drop is present on my forehead. She continues, "Everyone will die and it will always hurt especially if it was the ones you care about, but you still have to live. You have to be able to pick up your broken pieces and put them back together. Even though you'll still have cracks, you have to accept them and continue to live your life. That's what Fugi and Ren would want for you. To be happy with a family that will help you pick up your pieces and help you continue to live your life even with cracks," I stared in awe at Ichigo's speech.

"So how about it Kuro! Do you want to be apart of our family?!" Ichigo smiles as she gestures towards us.

A single tear falls down Kuro's chin, but he's smiling. It's a genuine smile.

"Yes."

And at that we all walk back to the café to enjoy sweets and have a small party to get everyone's spirit up again. Kuro will probably stay with Ichigo and I... not too happy with that because I wont get privacy with her anymore, but maybe I can get over it...

MAYBE! No promises.

Even though the War is over, no one was able to win. Lives were lost and Deep Blue is still alive.

However...

I only care about seeing my little Koneko-chan smile, so...

In the end, I feel like a winner.
