"I'm home," I called out, setting my bag down at the kitchen island. "Hunt?"
No response. I shrugged and walked toward the basement stairs. The red recording light was off, but I heard chatter in the basement so I knocked, "Hunter?"
"Jenna - come down," Hunter replied.
I descended down the plush carpet stairs. The basement was Hunter's domain, and aside from the nanny suite for our parents when they visit, Hunter took time while updating the house to add a basement studio. "I didn't expect you home so soon," I said, walking into the studio.
Hunter turned around, "Yeah - change of plans. We decided to do some writing here today." He gestured toward Sam, and two other very familiar faces sitting across the studio. "Meet Curtis and Brad Rempel."
"High Valley," I extended my hand, "I'm Jenna. pleasure to meet you." They smiled and reciprocated.
"So, you've heard of us?" Brad asked. Hunter smiled.
"Well actually, I used to live in Ontario..close to Toronto." I beamed. "We've actually met before. I won a radio contest a few years ago. Umm, gosh where was it..." I raked my hands through my hair. " Oh - the Edison! Must have been like four years ago."
"Oh yeah, we did a show for CMT," Curtis replied. Brad nodded, "That's cool. Small world."
I smiled, "Very. what are ya'll working on?"
"New songs, new album - hopefully," Hunter squeezed my hand, Sam chimed in, "And lets add a new tour on top of that."
"That's great. Let me leave you to it. Does anyone want water or coffee?" In unison, the general consensus was, "Coffee please."
"I'll be back in a few minutes," I squeezed Hunter's hand and made my way back upstairs.
Once I made it to the kitchen, I set up the Keurig and immediately texted my friend Steph. She was my special guest when I won the KX Contest.
K: "You would never believe who Hunter has over right now recording!!"
S:"Too many names to think of! FGL? Taylor?"
K: "The possibilities are endless lol. HIGH VALLEY. They're in our basement lmao"
S" STFU. NO WAY"
K: "Yesss!!"
"Jenna,?" Hunter came over and gave me a side hug.
"hmm," I looked up from my phone. "Coffee's are almost done."
"Thanks love. Hey, do you have plans tonight?" I shook my head. "Want to go to see the guys play tonight at the BlueBird?"
"That's not even a question." I kissed his cheek and walked past him to get the coffee creamer from the fridge. "I'd love to."
"Awesome," he said, picking up the tray with coffees, "thanks again."
"Any time my dear. I'm going to put away the laundry so I'll be upstairs if you need me."
