Crash! Bang!

"Hunt?" I nudged a sleepy Hunter, "Babe – something's going on" I whispered and listened as it sounded like someone or something was outside.

"Shh," Hunter whispered, he quietly stepped to the doorway of our room, "call 9-1-1 Jen, I see a car outside."

I grabbed my phone off my nightstand and called 9-1-1

"9-1-1 what's your emergency"

"Hi, um, my name is Jenna, I think there's someone outside of my house, it sounds like someone is tearing through the garage."

"What's your-"

I cut the operator off, "My fiancée said our car out front was broken into – the alarm is going off"

"Leave it. I'm dispatching police. What's your address? Please have your fiancée and yourself safe from the main entrance of the house."

I gave the operator the information and within minutes we heard shouting outside and saw the flashing of red and blue sirens. A firm knock rapped on the front door, Hunter threw a shirt on quick and made his way downstairs, I grabbed a sweater and stood at the top of the stairs as two police entered the house.

"Mr. Hayes, it appears your house was the target of a break in, can we please speak to you."

"Of course," Hunter rubbed the back of his neck, leading the police to the kitchen. "Come down Jen."

"There have been no reported robberies in the area as of late, however two cars were damaged in the past few months. This seems to be intentional but risky given that it happened at night. We have detained the person we caught in your garage but there was damage done to your jeep."

The police explained next steps, took photos of the car, garage and advised us of the charges g they would be laying against the man they detained. "Did you want to press any additional charges on top of the three we discussed?"

"No, I think we will pass on that. Can we please apply for a publicity ban? I don't want this blowing out of proportion." Hunter stated firmly. "We will be investing in a security alarm and some motion lighting." He held my hand and gave it a squeeze.

We thanked the police and locked the door behind them, tears welled in my eyes. "Babe," Hunter said softly and hugged me tight. "I know that was scary. It was. I was scared." I hugged him back as tears rolled off my cheeks on to his shirt. He pulled away and gently wiped the tears away. "Let's go lay down and when the store opens we will get some lights and we can call an alarm company.

I nodded, "Thanks sweetie. You handled it really well. I don't know what I would've done if I were alone."

Hunter looked nervous, "That's what I was thinking. I don't want you to feel unsafe- ever. I want to protect you." We climbed back into bed, Hunter hugged me from behind, gently singing until I drifted off to sleep.

"You're not alone
I'll listen 'till your tears give out
You're safe and sound, I swear that I won't let you down
What's hurting you I, I feel it too
I mean it when I say
When you cry, I cry with you, with you"
