Months passed by and Asgard slowly went back to how it was before.

The Palace was rebuilt and people began to feel safe once again. The Fire Spirits were near extinct and so, were no longer a notable threat.

Thor went back to work and Loki enrolled for his final Quell of school.

Odin became the stable and loving father he had once been and Frigga was utterly content.

Nobody talked about the War or how Loki had defeated three of the spirits and got out unscathed.

Thor was just ecstatic to discover his love was happy and healthy once again.

When they returned home, they moved into a joint chamber and spent lots of time being the content secret couple they were.

Thor was oblivious to the slight shift in Loki's behavior and blamed any abnormalities on the emotional trauma of the previous months.

He couldn't blame him...

"Bruce says hello!" Thor called from the bedroom. Loki blinked, un-moving. "He has moved to Queens! Can you believe that?"

"Good," Loki whispered to the darkness.

"Kieran told me to inform you that a new franchise has been released. The Hulk."

"How interesting."

Thor lumbered into the room and smiled at his lover. They kissed. It was raw and passionate and completely explicit. Tongues fought, lips were bitten and body parts were touched. Loki took control over the God of Thunder, pinning him against the wall and taking whatever he wanted.

Loki knew something was different inside him.

Something had changed. A piece of him was lost for ever but he couldn't figure out what it was.

There was one thing he did know, however.

He was not the Loki his family knew and loved.

He was a monster.

That is why, in 2012, when Loki was escorted through the Air Craft by Fury's team, Bruce couldn't believe his eyes. That grin... it was familiar, yet so different. The way his eyes didn't stray far from Bruce's... tormenting him, laughing at him.

Bruce could hear what he was saying...

"Look what it did to me."... "Look what you did to me."

Bruce wasn't sure how the necklace ended up in his suitcase, but he destroyed it the first chance he got.

It was the ultimate betrayal.
