Things will get more interesting soon, I promise. I'm just trying to introduce a decent plot whilst involving boring characters and UGHH!
Already the halls were swarmed with the variety of people on Asgard; soldiers, maids, servants, mayors, townsfolk.
Men and women alike were all united in the largest building in the entire realm.
Laughter and light hearted banter was shared among them, the delightful giggles of small children blessing Odin's ears as he near floated through the granite doors of his chamber, onto the balcony.
His mind had been restless all night.
He was no doubt unsettled by his youngest son's bravery.
It made what he was about to do so much more difficult.
No matter what he told himself, Loki Odinson did not deserve this punishment and it would kill him to see the look of agony on his baby boy's face, to see him in chains like a criminal.
Nether less, he had to. If the Fire Spirits decided that Loki was desirable, he'd be taken, broken and destroyed come nightfall.
"I assure you, you are incorrect." The Allfather smirked from his position on the smouldering ground.
Lady Alva did not return the gesture, her coal black eyes straying to the destruction around her.
Odin had come to this planet to help the race of Fire Spirits rebuild their foundations after a Civil War between an unfair ruler and his angered people. All that was left of the planet was crumbling rock, sizzling craters and a city of rather apathetic Spirits of Fire.
A pile of dust rested upon a stone throne, a dirty copper crown lying haphazardly upon it.
"The boy appears to be one of ours." She whispered back, her stark nakedness hardly shocking Odin now.
These unusually placid creatures still hadn't grasped the concept of using fine materials to cover the body.
Not that they needed to, considering they didn't feel anything.
"We have seen the portraits, Master Odin. I have walked your halls and seen it with mine own eyes." She paused and an eerie, meaningless grin crossed her face.
The Allfather had to admit, his youngest son and these Spirits shared striking similarities; the raven black hair, pale skin, thin stature and airy aura but aside from that, they couldn't be more different. And considering Loki's true descendants were Fire's polar opposites, the whole thing seemed completely humorous and inane to the God.
Of course, only Frigga and he knew about this, and he wasn't about to share it with them..
"My son was born on Asgard," he began, dragging his scepter along the ash pile surrounding his feet. "His mother is Frigga, his father is I. We raised him together, magic and mischief runs through his blood. He is the most charming, lively and healthy soul I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Tell me, Miss Alva, does he sound like a Fire Spirit to you?"
"Enough of your lies, Master Odin. It's a wonder how quickly a child's mind can be altered, brainwashed... molded. I demand you return the child to Reinhelm, or there will be war on your part."
"And I will very much look forward to it, dear." Odin chuckled, raising his hand in the air to gather the attention of every Spirit, despite the fact that they were all ghastly silent and staring at him anyway.
