"Richard Tozier, where have you been!" Richie heard his father yell as he open and closed the door to his small apartment building.
Richie flinched at his fathers crisp, harmful, deep and terrifying voice.
"I-I was at the q-quarry with the b-boys," Richie stuttered walking towards the kitchen where his father and mother were.
"And you didn't think to call!" Wentworth, Richies father, yelled slamming his fist onto the counter causing his mother, Maggie, and Richie to jump.
"Wentworth, I told him he could go," Maggie started. Wentworth looked at her with nothing but pure anger in his eyes.
"I said he could go down there, a-and be back by nine." She spat out nervously.
Richie just watched with terror. Usually when his mother stood up to his father it didn't end well and Richie couldn't do anything about it. He was told not to, by his mother. His mother always told him if Wentworth were to lay a hand on her to just leave. To not wait and worry because Wentworth could hurt him too.
"Now please, let's go upstairs. Stop with the drinking for tonight, yeah?" Maggie stated calmly which seemed to make Wentworth even more high strung.
"Richard... upstairs... now." Wentworth stated through his teeth.
Richie looked over at his mom for the okay sign. His mother, with fear in her eyes, nodded her head 'yes' almost immediately as he turned to meet her gaze.
Richie hesitantly turned away from his mother and father but not before mouthing a quick I love you to his mother in which she quickly responded doing the same.
Richie walked upstairs slowly making sure to keep his ears peeled for the time he could.
Once Richie reached his room, he closed the door and made sure to lock it. Almost right when he locked the door he heard his father yelling at his mother, for no true reason what so ever.
Richie was shaking a lot, his breathing was heavy and he felt as his room was getting smaller and smaller, it was an anxiety attack nothing new for the Tozier boy.
And that's when Richie heard it. He jumped immediately at the sound, and put his hand over his heart feeling his pulse only heighten.
Skin to skin. Hand to face. He had hit her. It happened so often, most days of the week most of the time Richies father came home drunk.
Richie grabbed his phone and bookbag. Richie dumped all of the books and school supplies out of it that he still hadn't gotten out since school had ended. Richie packed some things he would usually pack if he were to just have a sleep over with the losers. Toothbrush, clothes, pillow, blanket, etc.
Richie was gathering all of his things as quietly as he could, he heard muffled screams and his eyes were bloodshot and checks were stained with the few tears he silently cried out.
He texted Bill and told him that he was coming over. Richie didn't wait for Bill to respond and climbed out his bedroom window.
Richie grabbed his bike from the side of his house and turned the flashlight that was on the front on. Then, he took off to Bills house.
Around 15 minutes later he pulled up to Bills house and was relived to see his parents weren't home. Richie pulled out his phone as he walked up to Bills front door and saw that Bill had responded to his text seven minutes ago.
Bill: okay, Eddie is here too & parents aren't
Fuck. Eddie.
Fuck
a/n: it's short and lame and I'm sorry
