Chapter 12.
"Geraldine. Geraldine! Wake up," I rose from my state in sleep. Eyes wide open. Hunter's room pitch dark.
I couldn't see anything. "What's going on?" I coughed.
"There is a blackout right now," Zayn said. I stood from Hunter's bed and felt the bed to see if Hunter was there. He wasn't. "Where's Hunter?" I started to freak out.
"I've got him." Zayn chuckled. "Say hi Hunter,"
I heard Hunter giggle before he said, "Hi Gigi," I smiled and exhaled a breath of stress. Hunter's room was very dark because he didn't have a window. First floor didn't, that's why there were lamps on their bed side. It wasn't working though. The power is out.
I heard some juggling around. I felt a body presence near me close. I gasped and grabbed Zayn's chest and pushed a little away. He was so close to me, it wasn't his fault though. He couldn't see, I couldn't see, Hunter couldn't see.
"It took me forever to calm him down. He woke up when a very powerful lightning struck hit. It took the electricity away. Last time I checked, it was four fifty two." Zayn actually stayed inside of the room with Hunter and I as we slept. How thoughtful. It must be five something now. A thunder struck crashed and made a loud sound. The floor shaking at the same time. Hunter whined.
"Should we go downstairs?" I asked Zayn, who was very quiet. I reached around the room and felt him finally. A little far away than I had to move. "What are you doing?"
"Shh." He shushed me.
"What? what do you-" he grabbed me and his hand covered my mouth. He scooted our bodies to the closet.
"Hunter pretend that you are asleep." He instructed Hunter. A few seconds later, foot steps were heard. Someone opened the door and looked around. Zayn's hand loosened on my mouth as he held me close against the wall inside the closet. A flashlight was turned on by the person waving it around.
"Hunter is here." The guard's voice was steep. "Mark him off attendance," My eyes widened. Zayn held onto me tighter as my gasped were heard out as muffles. I hoped the guard didn't see the bandage and medicine for Hunter. The door was shut and Zayn let go of me.
I turned around, backed away, and said in a rush, "We have to get back to our rooms. They're doing attendance," I rushed to the door. Somehow Zayn grabbed my hand and stopped me.
"They are out there at the moment. Don't just walk out," Zayn had a point.
"It's pitch dark. We can sneak to our rooms. If you and I are found in here and not inside our rooms, we get punished Zayn." I said. I needed to get back to my room.
"Fine. Let's get the bandage on Hunter first," Zayn made his way to the bed and I heard the wrapper on the bandage tear off. "Hunter, lay on your stomach." I heard some noise and commotion going on. Hunter must have been moving onto his belly.
"Now this is going to hurt. Try your best not to scream," Liquid was heard in bottles. A moment later Hunter was screaming into his pillow. I rushed to the bed.
I grabbed Zayn's arm. "What are you doing?" I said and moved Zayn away from Hunter.
"Nothing. It's done and over with. I put the medicine of yours and alcohol on the bandage. It's suppose to take away the infection coming," Zayn grabbed my arm and pushed me away. Zayn tucked Hunter in and after he grabbed my hand. He was way smarter in medical stuff than I was.
We made our way out. Quietly going to the stairs that led upstairs. Zayn and I bumped into somebody. "Sorry." I apologized. At first I thought it was Zayn that I had bumped into.
