Citrine (シトリン, Shitorin) is the only Gem who can stay conscious after being broken apart. Due to their body being more awake and vibrant which keeps them awake during hibernation, they are isolated and kept close to Kongo since being caught by the moon people would reveal their connection to him. They hate being left out and feeling unimportant.

Appearance: Citrine, also called Nine or (a) wuss specifically by Bort, has a pale yellow color scheme and wears only the summer uniform whenever in the season. They also wear the standard black shoes and sometimes white gloves but never any socks. Their hair is loose in a bowl cut style to ear length or almost undercut style to get some kind of acknowledgment from their fellow siblings.

When they're other, more manipulative psychotic personality takes over, their yellow eyes seem to change to pitch black.

Personality: Citrine is a hard worker, but only in terms of information, literature, history, and strategy relating to pinpointing Moon People attacks. They will pester Uvarovite or Onyx for details regarding any fights or encounters with the Moon People, as do Alexandrite. Citrine is forbidden from engaging with the Moon People because doing so might get them captured and taken to the moon and Citrine can somehow stay conscious when broken into small pieces. Their head could be cut off and they'd remain awake. The chance of them returning is slim.

Relevance to the story: Citrine makes battle strategy's for the different types of Moon People for the Fighters.

When Antarcticite's head was found at the shore of nascency, they helped with the research of weather Arc's head could be attached to Dalmatian Jasper's body.

Citrine joined Onyx, Uvarovite, and Crazy Lace agate in searching for Holly Blue's right arm during a fight with Lunarians.

They joined the winter hibernation like the other Gems. However, they talk in their sleep.

When Smoky Quartz, a gem with serious anxiety and hallucinating issues, appeared and started chasing and attacking Bort because they thought Bort was a Lunarian, Citrine came to the conclusion that Smoky was too fast for the other gems and Kongo needed to be the one to bring him back to earth. Purple Diamond, Fire Opal, and Blue diamond all attempted to catch Smoky Quartz but Citrine stopped them. When Smoky attacked Alexandrite, Uvarovite urged Citrine to pick up their sword and attack even if it seems pointless. Citrine was hesitant to raise the sword since he was qualified to fight lunarians they were not skilled in battle. In a spilt second Citrine raised Uva's sword and stabbed Smoky while Uva distracted them, with a black, emotionless expression.

When Uvarovite explained to Citrine how they wanted to kill every last Lunarian, Citrine gave them a crash coarse on battle tactics and sword fighting styles they saw from others gems who fight. Uvarovite asks Citrine if why they choose not to fight, to which they answered in a simple explanation, that before Citrine met Bloodstone and Uvarovite he wandered the shore of nascancy and met a gem that was a newborn gem the same shade of green that Uvarovite has. Citrine saw this gem get mercilessly taken apart by Lunarians and dragged away to the moon while Citrine could only watch in horror. Citrine keeps the Moon People in mind everyday in order to remember that horrific day and vow to never end up in the same situation.

They tend to stare at the sky for long periods of time because of the sight of Holly Blue Agate being taken and the way they were broken apart left a vivid everlasting image in Citrine's mind.

Citrine was one of the gems who escaped when Phosphophyllite left from their visit from the moon.

Upon learning that all abducted Gems have been ground to powder, they fall to their knees, crying and screaming out of grief for Arc's body, Jasper's head, Holly Blue Agate, Uvarovite's arms, the other gems, and Blue Diamond. When they learn any gem below 5 cannot be restored, the only thing on their mind is Antarcticite. However, to save Dalmatian Jasper from being taken Citrine exposes themself to a different and new kind of Lunarian that used hooks to bring the Gem closer in range of arrows. At the time, only Uvarovite was there and they were still getting used to their new arms and Dalmatian Jasper was shot by arrows and their arms and legs were no longer attached to their body. Citrine was still conscious even after their head was shot off. They were taken to the moon while the other two were left to watch.

Relationships:

Uvarovite: Their relationship seems to flip every now and then. One day they're so close its seems unreal that they've only known each other for a couple hundred years. Then the next day they can't even look at each other.

Bloodstone: A very mom/son relationship. However, Citrine rather likes Bloodstone's overprotective nature and likes to create small talk with them sometimes.

Onyx: Citrine knows very well Onyx doesn't like them and honestly he couldn't care less. The relationship between the two is strained and sometimes incredibly awkward.

Dalmatian Jasper: Likes their company and appreciates the help when Jasper offers it. Citrine knows Jasper's a very soft and gentle gem that puts on a mask to hide that soft side. They're just glad Jasper let's them see it.

Antarcticite: Used to be heavily intimidated by this gem. They would stutter when they talk to them and blush when complimented. It took a very long time for Citrine to get comfortable around them and they still don't know why.

Phosphophyllite: Likes to chat with them and train. Citrine took the job of the encyclopedia before it was given to Phosphophyllite. Other than that, the two really don't talk much.

Diamond: Loves that cutie to death. Believes Dia should be some kind of moral support or nurse than a fighter. Citrine had a heart attack when they learned that their arm was taken.

Alexandrite: The two have alot in common and Citrine personally doesn't like being separated from Alex for too long. They have so much to talk about and love that one gem is willing to give so much attention to them just because they saw a lunarian.

Kongo-Sensei:.... really doesn't trust him...

Sword: Citrine has never gotten his own sword

Extra: Natural citrine is rare. The best comes from Brazil (Bahia, Goyez, Minas Gerais). There are also deposits in Madagascar, Pike's Peak, Colorado (USA), Spain (Cordoba, Salamanca), Russia (Mursinska/Ural), France, and Scotland. It also occurs as ametrine (part citrine, part amethyst) from the Anahi mine, Bolivia.

Five types of citrine coloration exist: orange-brown natural quartz containing iron; yellow to orange-brown colours produced by the heating of amethyst; yellow to orange-brown colours in synthetic quartz grown in the presence of iron; light yellow radiation-induced colour found naturally in quartz or produced by heating smoky quartz; greenish yellow colour produced by irradiation (with or without subsequent heat treatment) either of natural colorless quartz or synthetic colorless quartz.
