In the following days, Jules felt uneasy whenever he was with Leon.
He could not flee away from Leon during filming and rehearsing, so he tried to avoid Leon during breaks and after work, in an effort to hide what was on his mind from Leon.
Jules planned to approach Leon after this awkward period.
However, Leon didn't seem to think that. Leon, with his big persona, thought he had nothing to hide. After being avoided by Jules several times, Leon stopped him at the car door in front of his assistants. "What are you running away from?"
Jules did not know how to answer this question.
Leon's straightforward attitude gave Jules cold feet.
"I...I'm not running away." Jules replied shyly.
Leon did not believe Jules, so he turned to Willet. "Were you avoiding me?"
"No, of course not!" Willet shook his head vigorously. "We just don't wanna be late, so we are in a hurry. Sorry, we haven't noticed you." He declared, confidently.
Leon's face was expressionless. "We finished work at the same time. If I were not here, where else would I be? Staying back to clean the mess with the other staff?"
The blood drained from Willet's face, making it pale. He shook his head again.
They were done with shooting at this location and were going to Sentosa. Jules and Leon left in tandem, but Jules was one-step ahead.
Leon glanced at Jules and, after a short pause, calmed his demeanor. ''I brought a lot of staff with me and there's also so much stuff in my car, so..."
Jules interrupted him. "My assistant and I could help you. There's still enough space in my car, and we promise we won't break any of your stuff. Is it clothes? We could hang them up." He said, eagerly.
Leon went silent for a moment, then continued. "If you don't mind, could you please give me a ride?"
Jules' ears turned pink.
Is Leon coming with me?!
Me and him, the two of us, in one car....
Just my luck!
Leon raised an eyebrow. "You don't seem very eager..."
It was really rare for the Movie King to be declined by someone, which was a novelty to him.
"No, No, no." Jules did not want to draw Leon's scrutiny, so he answered without hesitation. "You're most welcome. Please get in."
Jules opened the car door for Leon himself.
Willet was a little scared of Leon. After Leon got in the car, Willet whispered to Jules. "If there's nothing else you need me for, I will go with the crew's car. Take care."
Willet shuddered at the thought of sitting in the same car with Leon for hours.
Jules nodded absentmindedly, seemingly in a trance. "Sure, sure."
Willet ran away joyously.
Jules held the car door open, considering whether he should sit with Leon in the back or sit in the front next to the driver.
Obviously, he wanted to sit with Leon, but he remembered having watched an episode of a talk show years ago, in which Leon made it clear that he liked to be alone in the car during long journeys, reading his script or listening to music.
It's a four-hour ride to Sentosa. If I sit next to Leon, I might make him feel uncomfortable.
Leon noticed Jules still standing outside the car. "Did you forget something?" He asked.
"No, No.'' Jules swallowed. "May I ... sit here?" He asked, pointing at the seat next to Leon.
Leon frowned.
Jules' heart shrank.
"Where else would you sit?" Leon asked him back. "On my legs?"
"No!! That's not what I meant!!"
Jules' face flushed. I'm so stupid!
Jules got into the car, covering his face in shame, and sat next to Leon. He fastened his seat belt then went silent.
