Chapter 3: Brother

Chapter  3

August 31,2012, 2:11 PM,  Awhile ago Chris' mother introduced him to a girl named Josephine, she is quite tall, white-skinned and has a smile that will make everyone fall in love with her. She is very kind to Chris, she keeps on talking about their past, but sadly, he don't remember anything about it. Chris feels like, he is the only one who don't know Josephine. His mother and Klaris kept on asking if he really don't remember her but Chris kept on telling too that he don't. Currently, Chris is resting in his room while his mother is cooking his favorite food, Lasagna and Klaris is talking to Josephine. 

Klaris said to Josephine that their brother is going back here at the Philippines to stay at their house for a year. Josephine asked who their brother is, since she didn't saw their brother because he already went to states before he could've even meet her. Klaris said that her brother's arrival here at the Philippines is 5:00 PM so their mother will come to the airport and pick him up. Grace suddenly barged in on their conversation, she said that they shouldn't tell Chris about his brother coming back here at the Philippines.

Curious, Josephine asked why they shouldn't tell Chris about his brother coming back then Grace said that Chris holds a grudge towards his brother because when they are at the age of 7 years old, his brother always bully him in school and in their house , like teasing him that no girl will ever like him, he always cries when his brother is bullying him. After hearing the story, Josephine laughed hard because she wouldn't thought that Chris would cry just because of what his brother said to him. Klaris said that she wouldn't really know, because after their brother went to states, Chris became more dependable.

4:21 PM, Grace and Klaris is getting ready to pick up her son, when Chris woke up. He saw his mother who is about to go, so he comes near on the window of their car and asked his mother where is she going. Grace answered him that she will go to the airport because she has someone to pick up. After saying that, she left and Chris, who is wondering who she will pick, got called by his friend, Josephine. She told Chris that his mother baked Lasagna for him and asked him if he wants to eat it.

When Chris heard the word Lasagna, he immediately went to their dining table and ate a quarter of it. He saw Josephine watching him, so he invited her to eat with him. Very happy, Josephine took a plate and fork and sat beside Chris. She took a quarter of Lasagna just like what Chris did. As they eat Lasagna, Klaris said to Chris that she will visit her friend and will come back at 7 PM, so Chris permitted her.

When Klaris left, Only Chris and Josephine are left. They already finished eating Lasagna, so they watched TV. Awkwardness fills their house, Chris, who is sitting infront of Josephine, sweats alot because he doesn't know what to do. When Josephine noticed that Chris is nervous, she suddenly started a topic, she asked Chris what happened to him on the past 2 days.

Chris was shocked about her question. Chris told what happened at August 31, when how someone he just met, died right infront of his eyes. Josephine was disgusted on how the murderer killed Queenie. She felt sorry for Chris for experiencing something like that. Chris said that it was fine because the person, who is wearing a white mask, doesn't appear anymore, and he is starting to forget about what happened on August 31.

 5:11 PM, Chris is watching TV, while Josephine is sleeping when their telephone rings. Chris went on where their telephone is at and picked up the phone. It was Grace who called him, saying that she is about to go home and she have a surprise for him. As Grace hangs the phone, Chris, who is very excited, suddenly shouted that made Josephine woke up. She asked Chris what happened and he said that his mother has a surprise for him.

Wondering, Josephine thinks that the surprise that his mother told him about is his brother.Chris noticed that Josephine giggled so he asked her why did she do that. She told him it was nothing but Chris didn't believe what she said so he thought that she knew what her mother's surprise is. He kept on asking Josephine if what she's saying is true but she kept on telling him that she don't know.

 5:31 PM, Chris heard a honking of  a car, so he went outside to look who it is and found out that it was his mother's car.  Josephine told Chris that he should wait inside their house or else the surprise will be ruined. Hearing that, Chris went inside their house and patiently waited for his mother to come in. As his mother comes in, Chris asked where is her surprise to him. Laughing, Grace called the person who she picked up at the airport. Chris was shocked because the person whom her mother picked up was his brother, Joshua. 

Chris' happy face turned into a grumpy one. He asked his mother why Joshua came back to the Philippines. Grace told him that Joshua will be staying in their home for a year because he is going to get a license for him to work here at the Philippines as a doctor. After Grace said that, Joshua suddenly talked, asking Chris if he still holds a grudge on him. Chris replied that he is now matured and forgot all the things that he did on the past.

Hearing that, Joshua sighed and smiled, Chris asked why did he sighed and why is he smiling. Joshua said he felt relieved after hearing the words Chris has spoken because he thought that he would never forgive him. Chris laughed, and patted his brother hard on his back. Joshua told Chris to help him unload his luggage, so he helped him.

7:07 PM, Klaris came back to their house with her friend Airam, Chris saw her and was impressed of her beauty. She is tan, has straight hair, and even though she has braces she has a beautiful smile. Klaris told to his brother to stop staring at her friend because Airam is the kind of girl who is really shy. Chris stopped staring at Airam, and said hi to her. After hearing that, Airam lowered his head and  said hi back to him.

Grace called them because it was about time to eat dinner, she also invited Klaris' friend, Airam, to eat with them. Airam said thanks and sat beside Klaris. As they eat their dinner, Chris noticed that there is someone standing and watching him from their backyard. He didn't see the person clearly, so he look closer to the person and saw the person on the white mask who now holds a chainsaw. Seeing that, a cold spine runs down his spine, and sweat has started to come out of his head, so he finishes his meal faster than usual and went to his room and tried to forget what he saw at their backyard.
