Chapter 5
“Come on!” Liam argued.
“No!” stomping my foot.
“Yes!”
“No!”
“I’ll treat you pizza.” Liam offered.
Pizza? My favorite. Nice offer. But then again, “Let me think?” I look up and look to Liam and said “No!”
“Stubborn.” I heard him muttered.
“Me? Really? You’re the one who keeps convincing me to go inside the horror house!”
I know. It’s shallow. I’m almost eighteen and still a scared- y cat.
Okay. Let me explain to you why I hated horror house.
When I was ten years old, I was with my cousin Diane went inside the horror house with our Aunt Helen, my dad’s sister. Of course, I was scared and excited at the same time. It’ll be my first time. I think I was brave enough then.
But then when we got in the middle part of the horror house, someone pulled my right foot and I was completely dragged out of my Aunt Helen’s arms. God. I’m so scared. Who the hell will do that? And to top it all, I lost my favorite shoe I was wearing at that time.
Since then, I don’t want to go to horror house.
Ever.
Not now.
I guess you’re confused why am I with Liam right now? It’s almost seven in the evening.
Six hours ago
Mrs. Brown told me that my shift in her booth will be after lunch, one o’clock in the afternoon.
I was eating lunch at one of the booths then I saw Liam approaching me wearing a smirk on his face.
“I’ll go to Mrs. Brown’s booth after your shift. Got it?” he said and took a sit on the other side of the table.
“Fine.” I took a bite from my burger. “Where we going anyways?”
“That’ll be for me to know and for you to find out.” He smiled and took off.
I groaned.
After I finished my lunch I went straight to Mrs. Brown’s booth and surprised to see that she’s waiting for me and holding a cooler full of melted chocolate. Yummy. I feel like I was drooling over it.
“Here’s what to do. The customer will choose there.” Pointing at the apple, strawberry, biscuits and other foods on the counter, “Then you’ll give them a cup of melted chocolate for them to dip the selected food they have.” I nodded. “Here’s the price list. Your shift will end in five o’ clock.” Four hours to work.
“Can I get a free after my shift?” I asked hoping she’ll say yes.
“Of course honey. Not everyone agreed to work on my booth. Take it as a thank you gift from me.” she left.
Many kids bought and almost emptied the contents of the booth. Wow. This booth earned a lot.
Seeing the customers especially the kids enjoyed the chocolate made me happy.
