i hope my angst tactics are right because i took notes on how i felt after reading angst so hopefully  it'll help me with my angst game

Varian and (y/n) had a perfect relationship. like Varian, (y/n) was an alchemist. they both did experiments together and it was like they needed each other.

(y/n) blushed madly as Varian put a flower in her hair. "look", he said holding up a flower, "it's so beautiful...like you, milady"

(HHH IDK WHAT THAT PICKUP LINE WAS BUT ITS WHAT I WOULD DO IF I WAS ON A DATE)

"oh...Varian" she said blushing harder. little did they know (g/b/f) (thats guy best friend btw) was standing behind a tree watching them.

with every giggle and blush from (y/n), he was getting angrier. he clenched his first tight.
"you will be mine, my fair (y/n).
and Varian can't stop me"

(g/b/f) entered Varians lab with a key in his hand.
"why hello there, Varian"
"oh hey man! sayy, how'd you get in here?"
"that is of no importance" he said, slipping the key into his pocket.

"the important thing is, (y/n) will be mine by the end of the night"
"wait what?"
"BYE BYE VARIAN!!"
(g/b/f) runs out of the lab, and Varian follows.
he slams the door and locks it right in Varians face.
"like i said. you can't stop me. i'll just tell her you're off with another girl tonight, i'm sure she'll understand, anyway BYEEE. it's over now, my friend"
Varian pounded on the door
"NONONO. (Y/N)!!!"

"ugh where is Varian??"
(y/n) looked at the rose in her hand
she blushed just at the thought of Varian putting it into her hair.
"Varian couldn't make it tonight, milady"

(y/n) turned around to see (g/b/f) standing with his back against a tree.
"what are you talking about dude?"

(g/b/f) smirked. "oh, why didn't you hear, my fair (y/n)? Varian's got a new lady now, and she's way smarter and prettier than you. why he's off seeing her tonight!"

(y/n)'s heart shattered. 'how could he?' she thought. Varian had been the missing piece she needed all her life, and now he's just suddenly found another girl?

she blinked back tears
"no. that's not true. he loves me"
"correction, my dear. he used to love you. but no worries...you're all mine now."

Varian finally managed to break the door down. without anytime to waste, he ran out of the house to go find (y/n).

(g/b/f) patted (y/n)'s back as she cried into her hands.
in the distance, (g/b/f) could hear running.
he knew Varian was coming.
but there was still enough time to officially make (y/n) his.

he put his hand on her chin and lifted her face up.
"it's ok (y/n)"
he looked to his left to see Varian running towards them, but stopping at a good distance away when he saw what was happening
"i will never treat you like that. I'm all you need now."

he kissed (y/n) on the mouth. she was shocked. she didn't want him, all she wanted was her little alchemist. the one who held her in his warm arms on cold nights. the one who had stolen her heart and in return gave her his. the one who said he loved her.

but now she was convinced that he no longer wanted her. tears ran down her cheeks as she just let it happen.

(y/n) still loved Varian with all her heart, but now she wasn't sure if he loved her too.

Varian stared in pain looking at the scene. a sharp pain formed in his chest. his lively blue eyes, now dull and tear filled. before, he lost everything, but he had you.
you; his princess, his sunshine, his love.

but now you were gone too.

(g/b/f) pulled away and held (y/n)'s face, making sure she couldn't turn and see Varian.

"come on now, Varian disappointed his dad, why would you expect him not to disappoint you too?"

Varian's tears fell harder as he heard him say that. the thought of disappointing (y/n) was like a sharp knife stabbing his already wounded heart.

"goodbye, (y/n)." Varian said in a shaky voice.
"if this is what you want, then ok."

'this isn't what i want'
(y/n) thought to herself that night
"i just want my Varian back" she said, her eyes filling with tears

she held the rose he had given to her tightly in her hand. the thorns poked her and it hurt, but she didn't mind. after all love did hurt. but she would've gone to any kind of pain to be with Varian.

"Varian...if only you still loved me...."

Varian looked out the window, he had been crying so much that he had run out of tears.

"if only she still loved me...."
