Mackenzie
The past three weeks with Dan have been the best ones I’ve had for four years. Hanging out with him, talking, joking… It was like hell never raised and I didn’t feel dead. When I was with Dan, he never made me feel like shit. It was good. Life was actually worth living.
I walked down the crowded school hallway, with an extra spring in my step. I’d get to see Dan again. Everything seemed to click again with life. But the thing about me being with Dan is that he doesn’t know about my scars. What the hell was I supposed to do if he finds out? I promised him I wouldn’t ever cut again. This was the only promise I ever broke with him. My heart sank at the thought of his face if he discovers my secret.
The science room came into view and I literally felt excited to go to class. But when I reached for the handle, someone slides in my way for entry. I looked down at her stellar heels and roamed my eyes up. Tight black pencil skirt, which ends at her upper thigh, white button down long sleeve shirt that happens to be showing too much cleavage, is tightly tucked into her skirt. I didn’t have to look at her face to know the bitch. Amanda. Being with Dan, he gave me my confidence back, so cock an eyebrow.
“Okay because it’s an embarrassment talking to you, I’m just going to get straight to the point. You seem to be hanging out with Dan again. I don’t like it. Just stay away and we won’t have a problem.” She announces making me feel like my existence isn’t worth shit. But Dan thinks I’m worth something so…
I roll my eyes and slump my shoulders at her comment. “You think I’m trying to take him away from you?” I ask, surprisingly curious.
“Gross. Of course not! That’s disgusting you slut!” She tried to make me feel down of myself again, but nothing seems to get to me anymore. I chuckle, which makes her cock an eyebrow.
“Stay away.” She says and walks away to her friends. I roll my eyes and open the door to see Dan watching the door for me. I smile as I walk to the available seat next to him. His gorgeous smile covered his face again, and it made my heart race at the sight… Wait… what? No! I refuse to fall for my best friend. The bell rings and Amanda along with her friends walk in. Her fierce eyes lock on mine, which makes me feel giddy… I have something she doesn’t.
Dan
“I saw you and Amanda talking about something… what was it?” I asked, because if Amanda made her fun of her again, it’d be it. Nothing will get in Mackenzie’s and my way.
She chuckled to herself as I relaxed. She took it as a joke. “She was implying that I’m taking you away from her. Just things funny of everything.” She said through her laughter. I smiled at her cute innocence.
Clicks of a heel clap against the tiled floor caught my attention. I turn in my seat to see Amanda in her revealing outfit. She looked sexy, she looked attractive, but she never caught my attention at all. The only person who had all my attention was sitting next to me in a pair of tight jeans and cotton blue long-sleeved top. Mackenzie keeps her head down, as she knew who it was too.
Amanda stopped right in front of me and leaned over the table to just show her revealing cleavage that wasn’t as appealing to me anymore.
“Hey Danny.” She said slurring her voice.
“Hi Amanda. Do you mind? I’m trying to do my work.” I said tapping my pen against my worksheet. Her eyes went from attempting seductive, to fiery angry.
“Fine. But I’ll see you later?” she asked, but I put my attention back onto the chemical reactions question in front of me.
“Maybe.” Her heels faded from my ears. I heard Mackenzie giggle which made me smile. But her giggling faded and I looked over to hear Amanda whisper harshly in her ear. I heard the words “Slut”, “piece of shit” and “watch your back.” I stood only to get Amandas attention. I could see the tears welling up in Mackenzie’s eyes.
She smiled at me grimly and that’s when I knew I’ve been dating a complete bitch. “We’re done.” Her eyes went wide and that’s when I got everyone’s attention, people staring at me from different angles. But I don’t care, they can enjoy about what I’m about to dig up.
“You’re spoiled, dumb, mean, disgustingly aggressive, and a complete bitch and I can’t take it anymore. We’re through.” I said and sat back down. I heard her heels fade away to the back of the room and I looked over at Mackenzie only to see her shy smile. She mouthed “Thankyou” and moved her chair over that little frag that if I leaned a few centimetres her way, our bodies would be touching. My heart began thumping louder and faster. Mackenzie’s got a hold on me I can’t control.
