Mackenzie

After my final stroke of mascara on my lashes, I stepped back and looked at myself in the mirror. My faded high-wasted blue jean shorts were cute, but my floral long-sleeved crop top looked hot! I’ve got to admit, I’ve never been as proud of my body as I am now. Dan said this afternoon after his training that we should go to the carnival that was here tonight. Confused as I was, I agreed. I have no clue what I’m setting myself up for.

I slipped on my blue converse shoes and moved my top so it didn’t look too slutty. Seeing myself like this gave me confidence I never thought I had at seventeen.

I knock at the door made me answer ‘come in’. The door opened to show my brother, Dylan. His brown hair and blue eyes represent Dad in more ways than one. He came in and smiled when he saw my outfit.

“He’s downstairs and you look… amazing. Do I have to talk to him about how to keep his hands off you?” He asked. Yep, definitely Dad.  I shook my head and smiled. I wiped my shorts for any creases.

I said to his reflection in the mirror, “Thank-you.”

He nodded but he still looked concerned. I turned around to see my brother slouched forward which wasn’t shown in the mirror. His eyes we heavy and dark as if he hasn’t slept in two nights. But when I think about it, he hasn’t been here for three.

“Are you okay?” I asked my voice becoming strained with worry.

His eyes awakened from a depressing sleep and his slouch was no longer there. With his back straight and his lips moving into a relieving smile, he replied. “Of course! I’m just stunned on how I’ve got a hot sister.” I rolled my eyes and punched him playfully.

He winked at me before taking my hand in the bend of his elbow and walking me downstairs. I heard my mothers’ hearty chuckle and my Dads deep laugh, followed by Dans voice. My footsteps got louder and I looked into the living room to see Mum and Dad smiling comedily and Dan in the middle of telling them a story on how he got onto the football team.

“May I have your attention please? Miss Mackenzie comes out in a reveling yet classy outfit, which I adore and think you should let her go out in.” Dylan announced as if I was royalty and I thought of killing sounded quite appealing at the moment. I felt the blood rising to my cheeks as I saw Dan wink at me. He cleared his throat and looked back at my parents.

“I agree with Dylan, she’s not getting out of my sight and that’s something I assure you.” His smile worked as a trance on my parents. Mothers smile brightened.

“Of course! You look gorgeous Mackenzie, go out and enjoy yourself.” I rolled my eyes at her comment.

The happy sound of children’s laughter, music, and screams from the rides around us thumped in my ears. I always wanted the bigger rides, the faster ones. Bumper carts never interested me. The rollercoasters, the spinney ones where you nearly throw up… they’re the ones I fancy.

But after my head spinning, I felt like passing out was the best option. I grabbed Dans arm for support and heard his low chuckle. I snapped my head to his to see him roaming his eyes down my body.

“Can we go on one of the slower rides now?” I asked, grabbing tighter onto his arms. He nodded and we began to walk around.

The closest one we found was the Ferris wheel. I held onto a breath and looked up at him and dragged him towards it. He restrained, but I pulled harder. I began to laugh and it made my stomach hurt. Something I haven’t done for a long time.

“Hurry up! Come on!”

 Dan

The music was soft as we went up, but stopped halfway. The view was breathtaking but it wasn’t even close to what Mackenzie looked like tonight. The old Mackenzie was coming through tonight. The way she only liked the faster rides. I’d never tell her, but I hated those. I got frightened and I was always the girl in our relationship, but she was the one with the boobs now. The way she dragged me around to get the fairy floss, coke, popcorn… she has returned to me.

She squirmed in her seat and looked at me.

“So. I’ve been thinking.” She began.

“Something, which is never a good idea.” I interrupted, she smirked.

“Why was your friends celebrating in the cafeteria the other day?”

I wished he never made that big of a deal.

“Um…uh… I dropped out of being captain for the rest of the semester.”

“Why?”

Was she that clueless? “Because… I wanted to spend more time training than running with a football. But I also wanted to hang out with you more.”

Her eyes softened and her lips moved into a mesmerizing smile. Why I left her was beyond me. Why would I leave the girl who was too real for me? Someone who didn’t laugh at my jokes if they weren’t funny, someone who isn’t afraid to tell me off for being an idiot, someone who’d rather be my friend than something they can create. She seemed to be too good for me, and I never even realized it.

Her smile was like a thousand lights, lighting up the night sky. I slowly and carefully put my hand on her cheek, caressing her beautiful skin. She moved her neck so my hand was fully evolved with her cheek. My body woke again, in more ways than one. I leaned in slowly, hoping she would push me away. This wasn’t something I needed in my life. I needed a friend, but my body yearned for her. Her breathing hitched and I smiled. I wanted this.

When my lips touched hers, she joined into the party immeadiently, our lips moving in perfect sync. I’d been dreaming about this for so many years. Wanting my lips on hers, and my fascinations weren’t nearly as good as what this is. Fireworks exploding from thin air, romantic music humming in our ears. I kept one hand caressing her beautiful skin, my right one wandering down to her waist, loving the feel of her curves. My heart thumped louder and louder. When her lips parted, I took it as an invitation to explore further. I slid my tongue inside and her moan came from the back of her throat had me chuckling. When I broke the kiss, I looked into her heavenly eyes. I'm surprised she can't hear my heart thump. Because it's become a wild mess.
