It was exactly 10:24am and I was at the beach perched on my surf board awaiting Spencer. The sun was bright as it shone down making my eyes twitch and squint when I looked out. I've been mulling over this whole deal for a while now and I've come to realize that I've never put as much effort into anything until now. I was determined to do my best when surfing and to win High Tide.
The tide lapped at my feet, refreshing me and keeping me awake. Not that I was asleep it's just that I was finding it increasingly harder to keep my eyes open. Aside from waking up for school 10:30 is way to early for my brain to handle being awake.
The beach isn't a bad place to spend time. Things are always happening constantly. Sometimes I watch people conquer a trick or a couple fall in love. Family's spend time bonding down here and the wildlife is insane! The best thing that I get to see is the reuniting of people, whether it be they are forbidden to see each other and sneak away or someone out at sea come back to their family, I love it.
What can I say? I like to see people reunited, maybe that's a silly idea, but what can I say I like the impatience, the stories that the mouth can't tell fast enough, the eyes that can't take in all the change. I like the hugging, the bringing together, the end of missing someone.
"You seem to zone out a lot" a masculine voice says allowing me to escape my thoughts.
"Sorry, I just get distracted" I say standing up to face Spencer.
"No need to apologize" he raises both hands in defence "it's amusing"
"Ha ha" I stick a tongue out at him releasing a deep chuckle from his throught.
"You ready?"
"Always."
Spencer tells me he believes in a 3 step guide to helping me become better at surfing. Normally I would roll with whatever even if it means falling off my board but with this "guide" I don't even get to surf!
Someone should please get knife so I can cut out his teeny pin size brain and replace it with a far bigger and smarter one.
I really need to stop letting my thoughts get so violent...
After Spencer explained to me this guide or whatever he sent me into the change rooms to take off the wetsuit and replace it with my bikini. Thank god my bikini was in my locker because I only have one. Don't get me wrong I love swimming but most of the time I'm in a wetsuit and this bathing suit is the only one I've tried on that I like. It's a simple black lace bandeau top with matching bottoms. It's very me.
"Alright Maddie! First step is swimming" Spencer announces as I emerge from the change rooms.
This whole swimming plan was fine at first! Basically I swam in about 6 ft deep water from the pier to the boy. After a while of that Spencer called me out of the water to take me swimming somewhere else.
"The waves are small today and seeing how these waves can get really bad I need to prepare you for that possibility and I need to strengthen you" Spencer says stripping himself of his shirt and grabbing a life saver from the counter of the safety shack.
Have I mentioned how chiseled and defined his abs were? Because hugga hugga they are hot!
Stop ogling the instructor Maddie. You are here to focus!
"Um.... Ya.... Wait where are we going?" I ask dragging myself out of my thoughts again.
"The pier"
"Why are we going to the pier?" I say skeptically.
"Your going to jump off it and swim to that catamaran and back without stopping" He replies simply.
