The last Four days my mind has been consumed with building my strength through swimming, like Spencer taught me that one day of lessons at the pier. I haven't seen too much of Spence these last three days aside from passing him on his way out of a class, probably AP chemistry or something like that. Everyday as soon as I get out of the school I've been heading straight for the pier and swimming until I touch the catamaran and swim back to the pier. On Monday I touched the catamaran and swam back, on Tuesday I touched the catamaran and swam back twice and yesterday I did the cycle three times. My strength was growing stronger by the day and there was absolutely no denying that.
Tomorrow was the dreaded Homecoming football game and dance. Everyone has been a buzz talking about what they are wearing, who their date is and what kind of car they are taking to get there. In reality it isn't even that big of deal compared to how everyone was making it seem. At this moment I, though drowning in homecoming cheer am witnessing Rebecca asking Spencer to the dance.
He is reading a book at his locker naturally, Rebecca is strutting over there with purpose in her step and I am casually watching from my locker across the hall
"Spence! I've been looking for you absolutely everywhere! Where on earth have you been?" She questions him as a few bystanders in the hallway crowd around them.
"I've been here at my locker for 30 minutes...?" He says confused.
"Babe be honest what has taken you so long to ask me to Homecoming?" She feigns hurt looking at her admiring posse and the watchful crowd.
"It's taken me long because I'm not going to ask you" he says rolling his eyes.
"I forgot you like me to make the big moves" Rebecca flirtatiously winks. "So what do you say to you, me and some spiked punch?"
"No thanks"
"Wait what? You said no?" I'm surprised but Rebecca Actually seems genuinely shocked. "You can't say no. Do you even get what you just did to me?!?! OH MY GOD IT'S LIKE IM A FRIKEN REJECT!"
Rebecca takes off in her kitten stilettos stumbling down the hallways tears spilling from her eyes as her posse chases her.
Everyone else that occupies the hallway and witnessed this event just stares, jaws to the floor. From across the hallway I see Jeremy Viligme's hands start to move before hitting each other influencing the whole crowd to clap. Soon everyone is clapping as Spencer blushes and turns to face his locker resuming his read in his book.
As soon as the crowd disperses I make my way over to him.
"Should I be asking for an autograph? Not only did Rebecca ask you to the dance but you rejected her! That ought to make you autograph worthy" I tease waving a pen and a notebook in front of my face.
"Ya whatever I'm not going with her" Spencer fake gags.
"That's the exact reason I am requesting an autograph from THE Spencer Brady" I fake fan myself to add to the effect.
After making some cocky remark Spencer takes my pen and notebook opens it up to some random back page and scribbles in it before placing it back in my hands.
"I'd love to talk Brady but I have to endure two more days of painting!" I say rolling my eyes.
"Have fun Parks"
"Count on it" I say as I make my way down to meet Will for some painting.
The music room was really starting to look good. We got rid of the chipping forest green walls and repainted them a light gray. All except the back wall that is, that wall is half way done and painted a nice lilac. Once that wall was done Will and I are supposed to paint a famous few bars of music across the wall. The rest of the walls were to be covered in black music notes and quotes from famous musicians and composers.
While will slaved away on the large lilac wall I was painting a Mozart quote onto the wall in front of me. It was just after school finished and as we had to stay another 30 minutes to an hour more our smocks were filthy. I had paint chips in my hair and covering my arms.
We worked hard in soothing silence listening to some James Blunt and Maroon 5.
