2nd POV
It was difficult. The tension in the air. The fidgeting of fingers. The tapping of feet. The expressions on faces. You figured everyone needed to know. All of the parents.
Hercules was quiet. Alexander looked unnecessarily guilty. John felt like vomiting. Lafayette was crying softly. And you. You. You were explaining. Explaining to the impatient feet and the twiddling thumbs that were in front of you. The almost expressionless faces that changed so quickly into shock that it petrified you.
Though your voice was smooth your heartbeat was not. It felt as though your limbs were shaking so badly that they would cause an earthquake. That your face was so white that it matched the clearest of paper.
It was terrifying. Unknowing to what lie ahead. To what would come. What would become of those shocked faces that could so easily turn into anger. Though you didn't have a choice, they did. You didn't have the choice whether or not to tell them. But they had the choice of the emotional outcome. It was scary, not knowing how they would react.
Explaining was the worst part. You had to look at them, witness their confused expressions quickly transform into shock. You would think that John's, Alex's, and Hercules' parents weren't a problem, but they were. You and Lafayette's parents could have influenced anger from the other parents. Like from their opinions on whether or not to keep the baby. That could influence their anger. And that would be the worst thing to happen. You wanted this baby, but at the same time you would have to deal with stomach cramps, food cravings, major soreness, a lot of pain and... Giving birth. That one would keep you up at night.
Giving birth would be the worst part. It's the most painful part of pregnancy. Everyone knows that.
You still explained.And explained.
And explained.
Explained.
Explained.
Explained.
...Finished.
Done. It's over with. With what felt like hours, it only took a few minutes. You looked at the boys. They looked warily around at the shocked parents. You looked back at your mother, your father, and your hopefully soon-to-be mother and father in-law. You waited. And waited.
Finally, one of them spoke up. "You're kidding, right?" You're father asked with a nervous chuckle. You hesitantly shook your head. His face turned from nervous hope to dreadful shock. He got up from his seat with slight anger, making Lafayette squirm backwards into his chair. "I'm gonna go take a walk." He left.
You looked at your mother. She stuttered for a moment. "Uh... Er-I don't know what to say." She too chuckled nervously after her rough sentence. A moment passed by. Another person spoke up. It was Lafayette's mother.
"How long have you known this?" You looked at Lafayette and he glanced away nervously.
"Well... We both knew the same night we uh... You know... Caused me to get pregnant. Which was... Last week. The night before we went to the hospital." Was it really that long ago? It felt as if it all happened just two days before. But no. It's been a week. You decided to close your eyes. It's been a dreadfully long five minutes. You opened your eyes back up to the sound of your mother leaving the room to look for your father. The boys were still seated, but Lafayette's parents stood up. Lafayette looked at them in fear. Wait. In fear? No, no. It looked more like guilt once they put smiles on their faces. Lafayette and his parents left the room to talk. Hercules and his parents left the room and gone went John and Alex with both of their parents too. So you just closed your eyes once more. Finally.Silence.
