14 - And... No Peggy?

2nd POV

  The next day of school began as normal. And thank God it was because you dearly missed normal. The day started with going to school alone on the bus, but sadly, the day didn't end normally. It was around the middle of lunch when it all started. Everyone was having a good time, laughing about pretty fucking dark jokes when she came up to the table. She as in Maria.
  She said, "My girlfriend's doing me wrong. Beating me, cheating me, mistreating me. Suddenly she's up and gone. I need some advice." (bc why tf not) You all sat there for a moment. Finally, you spoke up with a plan in your head.
  "Give us a moment, Maria."
  You looked at the squad and they gave you confused looks. You cleared you're throat.
  "Do you all really think that Peggy would do such a thing to her girlfriend?" They all went wide eyed and then understood immediately. Nodding, they all leaned back and looked at Maria amused.
  "Come over here and sit next to me." You say, patting the bench to your left. You'd never allow her, or anyone, to be in between you and Lafayette.
  You placed your head on your hands and asked, "Maria, what do you mean by she's cheating you?" She looked at you with, what you would call terrible, puppy eyes.
  "Well, a few days ago I..." You raised a brow. Either she was making up a story as she went or she was acting dramatic. When it comes to Maria, automatically everyone thinks she's being dramatic. And she is.
  "A few days ago after school I... I caught her cheating on me with another girl." And there went the fake tears. Maria was good at manipulating people, so you'd bet that she practiced crying at home. And, it did look real. But you could never be fooled by someone as dramatic as her.
  "Well what about mistreating you?" Maria looked at you. Well, you thought she looked at you but you caught her looking over your shoulder, and to... Lafayette. You looked back at him as calmly as you could to not make you look confused. He shrugged his shoulders.
  Looking back at her, she began, "She's been disrespecting me and calling me names, and just..." She sighed while looking down at her hands. You cleared your throat.
  You patted her shoulder and asked another question. "Also, if she's beating you, don't you think you should call the police?" She started shaking her head. She looked up and gave you puppy eyes again.
  "I'm just scared that she might do something else to me." She was pretty damn good at this. But you wouldn't slip.
  "Well Maria, I don't know what to do for you except call the police on her for beating you. Or you could just break up with her. Either way it would help." She looked back down.
  "The thing is, I already broke up with her. The day that I caught her cheating on me."
