"So..." I stared at the back of the classroom. "This texts talks about ...a girl... who... eh." I stuttered. I hate talking in front of the class. "The texts is about a girl who lived during the first world war and she talks about her story of being from a poor family and having her dad and brothers going to war and her becoming a nurse." I talked very fast. "You can describe her as courageous, humble, self discipline..." I described the character and went back to sit at my desk. I looked down and tried to breathe slowly. "Toby, you're next." Toby, my crush since first grade, got up. Despite his jock attitude and friends, he was probably the smartest of them all. He talked for 5 minutes and the bell rang. "I'll need to talk to you," the teacher said to him as people were leaving class. I got my stuff together and headed out.

The school hallways weren't my favorite place -there was too much people. I walked kind of fast, looking down at my shoes and bumped into someone - who looked like Troy, Toby's biggest douche friend- which made me fall. I sat and got my books scattered on the floor. "Do you need help?" I looked up and saw Toby offering me his hand. At first, I was completely shocked that he'd talk to me and then, I was probably red as a tomato.

I took his hand and he helped me pick up the rest of my stuff. I smiled at him and walked awat, too shy to speak to him. "Hey," I heard his voice and saw him ran up to me. I didn't think he was speaking to me. I also tried to say something but I didn't know what. "What's your name?" He smiled at me. I was melting inside. "I'm (y/n)." He held a book in his hands. "So, you write song uh?" I was now sure that I was red as a tomato. "Yeah... That's kinda private." I took my book from his hands. "Well it's easy to notice... I mean it's written "Song lyrics" in big letters." He smiled but I didn't.

And from that moment, every day, he would say hi to me before classes -the ones we shared. He would smile at me when we'd see each other in the hallway. Those small gestures lasted for a month before he asked me out. "Hey!" He came and sat next to me on the bus on the way back home. "Hey you." There was a few seconds of awkward silence. "Would you like..." The bus drove on a bump and we all jumped from out seat and Toby's head hit the rack above us. He rubbed his head, "That hurted." He laughed it off. "So... are you free?" I raised my eyebrows. "Tonight?" He smiled, " uh...Well this weekend, I don't know." I was confused. "Are you asking me on a date?" He shrugged. "Maybe, yes." I couldn't help but smile. He was asking me out on a date. The most popular boy in school was interested in me! "I'm free Friday." I got up as I saw my house outside.

...
"Are you gonna show me a song?" Toby was sitting on my bed while I was looking for my sister's bag in my room. "Never in hundred years Toby." He made a puppy face. "Why? We've been dating for like half a year. It's the least you could do." I sighed. "No," I paused, "the least YOU could do is help me find the damn purse." "Wow someone's mad!" He got up and began to search with me. "You make me feel alive, you're the only one I desire," he began to say. I stopped and looking at him. "I like french fries and your eyes." I was offended. He had gone through my lyrics book. "Toby! How could you?" "The lyrics you write are amazing. Why won't you show them to me?" I sighed hard. "Apparently you already saw them." I took my book in my hand. "And you should know. I never wrote I like french fris and your eyes." He laughed. "I made it up." It wasn't funny. "Oh come on." He tried to hug me but I escaped. "I'm mad! You're very mean." He made his puppy eyes again and walked closer to me. "I'm so sorry." He was very close to me now. "I hate you." He smiled, I was, again, confused. He started to tickle me. I laughed, I was very ticklish. "I hate you Toby!" I screamed. "You know you don't," he said as he kissed me.
