A Happy Reunion. Kinda.

Chad woke up at 8 AM on Saturday with a smile on his face. Today was the day Arielle was coming back. She was practically his best friend. Sure Daysi had the title, but he was closer to Arielle. He woke up and decided he would go for a run. Football was close to ending, and basketball was about to start soon. He put on a simple white tshirt, blue basketball shorts, and his signature black Nikes. He got a post it and wrote "Going for a run. Be back in an hour." Then he put it on Carlos's forehead.

He went outside and started jogging. The sky was still gray, and there was a slight chilly wind. Not many people were awake yet.  Chad went on one of the trails that went into the forest. Sweat had begun to drip down Chad's face. He had been jogging for half an hour. Chad turned a corner and wound up at a river. There was a tree that had fallen over and served as a bridge. He decided to take a break. He lay against a tree and closed his eyes to calm his breathing. He was listening to the river rush by and thought how much Arielle would like it here. He would of course have to ask/trick her in to come with him. He was glad she was coming back.

He started thinking about his job in Cam's plan. She had wanted to throw Arielle a surprise party. Most students had come back already. Cam called Arielle's friends on the tennis team and others. The party would be at one. It was Chad's job to keep Arielle occupied until then. Chad, Cam, and Carlos would all go to see her when she arrives but Cam and Carlos would leave soon to go get the food for the party and begin decorating. While planning the party Carlos asked what if Arielle wanted to go to her room. Chad then came up with the idea of saying her room stunk from some spoiled milk that spilled on the carpet. Cam and Carlos's excuse for leaving Arielle so soon would be they were going to get carpet cleaner. Then Chad would begin his job. If he failed, Cam would surely choke him.

Chad checked the watch on his wrist. 8:45.  He had been lost in thought for fifteen minutes. Chad got up from his comfortable spot against the tree. He walked over to the tree bridge and began to cross. Half way Chad tripped over his untied shoe lace. He almost fell into the river but he regained his balance at the last minute.

"Phew! That was a close call."

Chad finished crossing the bridge, tied his shoe, and started on his way to his dorm. He decided to sprint back to his dorm to make up for lost time. The rhythm of his feet hitting against the earth reminded him of a drumbeat. Twenty minutes later he had come back to the campus. Chad decided to jog the rest of the way to avoid running into people.

"Hiiiiiii Chad!" He looked to his right and saw two girls from his math class. They were sitting under a tree with a science textbook open and had notes sprawled around the ground. He smirked and gave them his signature wink. Instead of swooning they scowled and went back to studying. Chad's wink gave them the creeps because it was actually kinda cute, but he's mean all the time so the idea of Chad being cute was unappealing.

Chad opened the door to the room. It was 9:10. Carlos was on the couch eating cereal.

"Hey, you're late by ten minutes. Gotta pick up the pace if we want to win the season."

"Yeah yeah whatever. I'm gonna go take a shower."

"Okay but hurry up. We DON'T want to mess up Cam's schedule. She's got everything planned out. I swear if she wasn't hot and a fantastic kisser, I'd break up with her."

"Yeah but you won't break up with her. She's got you whipped. If anything she'll dump you. Cam can be a little witch sometimes. Watch yourself."

With that said Chad turned to leave the room. Carlos threw a football at Chad's head but missed by a few feet. Chad chuckled at Carlos's sad excuse of a throw. Chad took a quick shower, dressed and did his bathroom routine. By the time he was out it was 9:38. He put his shoes on and quickly ate cereal. At precisely 9:45 Cam arrived. All three friends left the room to pick up Arielle.

"You guys remember the plan, right?"

"Yes, Cam. We know the plan. You've only went over it six hundred times.Right Carlos?" Chad stuffed his hands in his pockets.

"Oh shut up Chad. Carlos you know your part, correct?" Carlos snapped out of his daze and looked at his frantic but beautiful girlfriend.

"Of course I know the plan, babe. No need to worry." Carlos planted a kiss on Cam's forehead.

They had reached the front of the campus just in time. A cab had pulled in and Arielle stepped out. She made eye contact with Chad. It felt like the world slowed down. They smiled goofily at each other. Arielle ran to Chad. He embraced her in a huge bear hug. Arielle felt herself spinning above the ground. Chad had picked her up without her noticing. He put her down and gave her a rare dazzling smile.

"I missed you."

"I missed you too."

"Ugh God. Get a room!" Arielle turned her head to see Cam making puking gestures. She laughed and gave her roommate a hug. She then turned to Carlos and they did some long handshake thing.

"Oh Jesus, I missed you all like crazy."

Cam smiled and said, " We missed you too. I could barely keep my sanity with these two around." She jerked her thumb towards Chad and Carlos. Both boys shrugged their shoulders and scratched their heads. Arielle just laughed.

"So what are the plans for today?I have something to tell you."

"Oh me and Carlos are going to the store to get carpet cleaner. We made a mess in there the other day. It's bad. You can't go in there. I've been sleeping in a friend's room."

"But what about my stuff?! I don't want to roll it around all day!"

"Just leave it in Chad's room. Chad, didn't you want to see Transformers? Go see it with Arielle. Okay we have to go. Bye guys!" Cam waved goodbye and hooked her arm through Carlos's. They were soon disappeared from sight.

"Here let me help with your bags." Chad walked to the trunk -"Chad, wait."- and opened it. Inside was Arielle's bags and someone else's. They looked like a boys.

"Who's are these?" Chad looked pissed.

Arielle walked to the cab and opened the door. A boy about 16 with brown hair, hazel eyes and glasses stepped out. He was around 5'10. Shorter than Chad but taller than Arielle.

"Well remember how earlier I had something to tell you? That something is that Andrew transferred here. Chad, Andrew. Andrew, Chad."

"HAIII CHAD!!!!!!" Andrew waved happily. Chad sent death glares at Andrew. The awkward tension was palpable.

Arielle clapped her hands once and said, "Okay then. We are off to the movies."
