The color drained from my face as I saw a familiar face. I never thought I would see him again but I doubt that he remembers me. Jack still looked like the day he left, he left everything behind, including me. Harley noticed my stare on Jack and did what I never thought she would. She actually comforted me. I hugged her once she was done, I guess I was wrong about her.

“Jack has returned from his journey to the outside world, as you can see. And he had brought back strange things with him, but I'm sure he knows what they are what they do. Moving on,” The dwarf said organizing some papers before him. “The Chief wants me to inform you that the Protecter that will be chosen this year will be much more powerful than the other Protecters because this one will be special. Very special.” He rubbed his hands in a evil manner, just who is this man?

“I wonder who it is.” Harley said to me. I looked deep into her red eyes and sighed.

“Makes two of us.” I said as the man averted his eyes back to the papers and nearly stumbled. I wonder what is written on the papers his holding. It can't be that bad that he wants to stumble, right?

“The new and last Protecter is....” He hesitated a bit before clearing his throat and looking onto the papers with watery eyes.

“Come on! We sat here for the past three hours! At least tell us who it is!” I giggled at Michaelangelo's voice. It was followed by a lot of 'yeah' s!'

“I'm not certain if this is a typing error or what but you deserve to know the truth dear villagers.” He cleared his throat again to my annoyance. “It states that the new Protecter is Amber Crawford.”

“What?!” I accidentally blurted out. I took a quick breath in and stood up facing dwarfy. “That can't be possible, only men are allowed to be Protecters, not women. And besides I am a healer, I can't be a Protecter as well.”

“You know we can't argue with the Gods above Amber.” They way he said my name sent a shiver down my spine but I shook it away as quickly as it came.

“I heal people who have been injured or sick people. I can't protect them from stuff.” People like you. I actually wanted to say.

“You are a Protecter from this day on Amber, whether you like it or not.” Dwarfy said and faced Jack who gave him the thumbs up.

“Yeah right dwarfy.” I rolled my eyes and faced the people. Shock written all over their faces. I don't know what to say. Protecters should make a speech after they have been chosen but I'm speechless, so I did the thing I was best at.

I ran, away from all the problems and away from the pain. I do not know where the heck I'm heading but I will run.
