Domina sits in the middle with Barrie and Victoria on either side of her in the back of one of the twin cab trucks. In the front passenger seat, a man sits with a loaded weapon on his lap. The driver has the pedal floored and no intention of stopping until he reaches his destination.

The radio in the cab comes to life.

'Rwazha for Shava... Come in Shava,'

The man in the passenger seat picks up the receiver.

'Go for Shava,'

'Mbada warns of a roadblock on your way: female cop, heavy set and dark in complexion – she works for Deans, over.'

'Copy that; what do you want us to do?'

'Stop, shoot her and keep going.'

'Roger that, Shava out'

Barrie leans over to his girlfriend, 'What did Deans do to you back there?'

'He ripped my heart out, Barrie,' Domina says casting her eyes to look out the window. 'I can never be the same again.'

'But it's over,' Barrie tries to encourage her. 'You're going home now.'

'I don't know where that is,' Domina's eyes well up with tears. 'I don't even know who I am anymore!'

The girl throws herself onto Barrie's shoulder and weeps. The boy puts his arms around her. Barrie and Victoria exchange a worried look.

The convoy of twin cab trucks cruises down the highway at breakneck speed, as if eager to escape the memories of the terrible ordeal the five friends have just experienced.

The End

Fact:

In March 1993, a Zimbabwean medical doctor (trained in Scotland), was arrested and charged with experimenting on more than 500 Zimbabwean patients, some of whom died, over a six year period. Dr. Richard McGown, a specialist in anaesthesiology, was tried by a court of law and found guilty of culpable homicide. One legislator likened his tests on black women and children to the Nazi's experiments on Jews and Poles in concentration camps.

Worldwide, medical research continues to benefit tremendously from experiments carried out on non human subjects.... Infinitely more continues to be gained by clandestine illegal experiments conducted on human subjects.

"I will take care that they suffer no hurt or damage" (Hippocratic Oath circa 3AD); "Primum non nocere" Latin--First Do No Harm, (quotation from Thomas Inman, 19th Century surgeon)
