Domina hobbles instead around the house to the rose garden. She creeps in the door from the garden and hides in the passage. She can see Tambudzai and Bugsy on the floor in the hall, with their hands bound hand behind their backs. Tambudzai is wriggling about, but Bugsy lies perfectly still. Deans is pacing around them with a rifle in one hand and a radio in the other. Domina switches off her radio, lest she give herself away, then she steadies herself against the wall and lifts her rifle to her shoulder. She takes aim and is ready to shoot at Deans. He keeps walking around, but the girl follows his movements with the rifle.

Deans clicks his radio on and shouts into it, 'Times up, Minnie now someone dies!'

The doctor drops the radio and cocks his rifle pointing it at Bugsy. Domina hesitates as Tambudzai stands to her feet.

'What are you doing?' Deans says as Tambudzai stands in front of Bugsy.

'Think about what you're doing. How many have you hurt?' Tambudzai walks forward slowly. 'I will take care that they suffer no hurt or damage.'

'What?'

'Primum non nocere, that's what you taught me so many years ago: first do no harm... have you forgotten that?'

'Oh, don't recite that hypocritical horse radish to me!'

Barrie and Victoria have made it to the barn. Victoria ties the horse to a post at the back of the barn then follows Barrie into the barn. As Victoria fumbles with the C.B radio, Barrie looks up and sees a small door at the other end of the barn. He lifts a large wooden bar and slides it across the double doors at the entrance. He rolls a heavy hundred litre barrel of oil to the doors and lifts it upright and props it against the doors as well.

'How are you doing?' Barrie asks wiping his hands on his T-shirt.

'Almost got it,' Victoria says flicking switches on the radio. 'I'm just worried the guards will find us before we can send a message.'

'Oh, they're coming alright,' Barrie acknowledges. 'But they're coming on foot.'

'How can you be so sure?'

'Hey,' Barrie points at her, 'you took care of all the horses, I took care of the car.'

The console buzzes to life and Victoria selects the correct frequency.

'Does that thing have a battery?' Barrie asks.

'Yes, a really heavy one,' Victoria tells him. 'Why?'

'I have an idea,' Barrie smiles.

Lungile shows up at Varaidzo's doorstep in a matter of minutes. She opens the door and puts her arms around her ex-husband.

'Are you ready to go?' Lungile asks feeling a little awkward.

'Yes,' Varaidzo says. 'Mwana needs us; let's get going.'
