Chapter 4

Cold

"Demin?" I called out his name inside his room but he's nowhere in here.

Kanina pa ako hanap ng hanap sa kanya sa posibling karoroonan niya pero wala siya. Umalis na naman ba siya? Bakit hindi siya nagpaalam sa'kin? This past few weeks, he used to call me if he wants to leave the house.

Napangiti ako. Buti naman at hindi na siya nalilito sa amin ni Amber. Nasaan na kaya ang bruha na 'yon? Naghihintay na kasi ang mga kamay ko sa kanya. Syempre, masusurpresa talaga siya. Huh!

"Have you seen Demin, Manang? Kanina ko pa siya kasi hinahap, e. Pero wala siya."

"Ah, nasa pool area po si Sir Demin kasama po si Ma'am Amber, Ma'am." She said.

"Oh, okay, Manang. Salamat po!" I thanked our helper as I walk my way outside.

Nangingiti-ngiti na ako nang makita si Demin kaharap si Amber na nakatalikod naman sa direksyon ko. I was thinking of giving him a back hug! O 'di kaya ay hahalikan siya sa pisngi. Hindi naman na siguro magugulat pa si Amber tutal ay alam kong may alam na talaga siya amin.

My eyes were still sore when I heard Demin called me from behind. His eye stick were tapping on the ground, nearing my direction. I immediately turned my back to face him. My heart leaped in anger the moment I saw his innocent face.

"Get out,"

"Huh? What do you mean?" nagtatanong ang kanyang mukha.

"I said get out! I don't wanna see you ever again, bastard!" I pointed her index finger to the door even if he cannot see. Ugh! This gesture is so useless!

"Woah, wait..." he huskily said, hurts by my words. "Your words stung badly, Amethyst. What did I do to be a bastard in your eyes?"

"You heard me! I couldn't swallow the fact that you betrayed me!"

"What are you talking about? Betrayed you?"

"Planning to lie, huh? Then don't, your lies will be useless. I saw you with Amber. You still love her, don't you? Oh, wait... bakit pa ba ako nagtatanong e, kitang kita naman na mahal mo parin siya." I tasted the bitterness in my tongue.

"You saw us? Then, what you saw was not the exact of what you are thinking."

"Let me explain first-"

"I want you gone."

"W-what?! That's bullshit, Amethyst! Will you please hear me out-"

"I said I want you gone! Leave me alone first!"

"But-"

"If you want me to stay with you still, better leave me for a while. Let me think if this so-called not in a world relationship of ours will work or not. You know what, Demin? I'm tired of being like this. I am not your first choice, not even your second choice. I am tired of being nothing to you but a slave in this love that only I was making the effort."

I saw how Demin's jaw dropped on the floor. I thought that even if Demin is blind he can still see what I was making him see what the eyes cannot. But then I was wrong. Days have passed and I still keep on ignoring Demin and Amber. I know that Amber weren't involved in anything but I chose to stick with her cold manners. Not involve? Yeah right. The Amethyst Byrew was back to her old self but not permanently. I'm just still in pain.

"Uhm... Amber, have you seen Demin?"

After the long painful days I had ignored my twin I finally approached her. Amber was about to go inside her room when she suddenly stop to face me.

Amber ridiculously stared at me. "Wow, the ice princess, miraculously speak to me." Amber sarcastically said with eyes widening.

I rolled my eyes. My facial expression seems nothing to care but the tension inside me is building up intensely.

"So...? Where is he?"

"He's gone. He left you as you wish for him to go away,"

"Wha-what?! You're kidding me!" My world suddenly crumpled down into pieces. Shock was an understatement of what I felt.

Parang naiinis na humugot siya ng hininga at humalukipkip. "That's what you said to him, right? Hindi ko akalain na pinagselosan mo ako. Himala na talaga sa akin na mag selos ang kakambal kong ni minsan ay walang pakialam sa akin noon."

"Amber, please... I love you, alright? You're my twin sister, of course! Hindi man tayo magkasundo noon ay mahal parin kita."

Umiling iling lang siya. Hindi ko mapigilang pangilidan ng luha.

"Stop the drama, Amby. Demin hasn't told me anything but I was there when you throw hurtful words to him and push him away. How inconsiderate of you, dear? You didn't even give him a chance to explain to you the truth. Ang totoo sa nakita mo? Masaya lang 'yong tao dahil sa wakas ay nakahanap na ako ng match eye donor para sa kanya." She said stoicly.

I bit my lower lip as the pain strike through me. I don't know what to feel. Malungkot ako kasi nagsisisi akong pinagtabuyan ko siya kaagad dahil sa mali kong rason. Pero masaya ako dahil sa wakas ay makakakita na ulit si Demin. Kung magkikita man kami ulit ay makikita na ako ni Demin sa sarili nitong mga mata.

Lumapit sa akin si Amber at niyakap ako ng mahigpit. I cried into her shoulders as she caressed my back, hushing me.

"At... may sinabi siyang mahal ka niya, Amby. That 'I love you' was pertaining to you, Amby. Hindi niya lang natapos ang pangalan mo dahil binatukan ko siya no'n. Pero inulit niyang sabihin iyon, hindi mo lang narinig."
