sO COURTNEY HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAVE FUN DON'T GET TOO KRUNK AND USE PROTECTION WHEN HOT BOI ASK FOR THE V

-

"Court!" The high-pitched shriek of my sister, the one I knew was coming, cut through my concentration, resulting in a grumble from me, "Come meet Chris!"

I try to put off meeting my sister's new boyfriend by getting up from my desk as slowly as possible, but Frankie grabs me by the arm and, I'm not even joking, drags me all the way to the living room, where a boy is sitting on our sofa, looking quite terrified.

Frankie sits right next to him, too close for my liking, and smooths her skirt.

"Courtney," she begins, rather dramatically, "this is the love of my life, Chris."

I hold back my laughter - she's said the same thing about every single guy she takes to meet me, and their relationship, at most, lasts for a week or so.

"Hello Chris, I'm Francine's sister who has powerful connections in the government and I'm not afraid to use them." I smile in a the way that the evil anime characters do, and extend my hand for him to shake. "Nice to meet you."

Instead of getting pissy about me creeping out her new boyfriend, Frankie gets upset about me calling her Francine, "Courtney, how many times do I have to tell you, I'm not Francine, I'm Frankie."

"Sure, Francine," I say, not wanting to give in to my sister's habit of making herself seem older. Chris, the poor boy had been sitting, frozen in his seat, watching our exchange, "Will you be joining us for dinner, Chris?"

He shakes his head vigorously, and jumps up and runs out the door, tail between his legs. I wave him goodbye, feeling accomplished.

Frankie and I are completely different, it's really funny how we're related. She's the queen bee of the sophomores, and I'm a nobody of the seniors. She always has a clique of squealing daddy's girls surrouding her. She wears high heels, I wear sneakers, as per the Taylor Swift song.

As Frankie and I sit down for dinner, I notice an absence at our table. "Hey Frankie?"

"Oh, so now you call me Frankie," she grumbles.

"What was that?"

"Oh, nothing," she feigned innocence, knowing well that I heard her the first time, "What was it you wanted to ask me?"

"Right, yeah. Have you seen Aunt Kira today? I was at work so I haven't had the chance to talk to her," I dig into my asparagus.

"I haven't seen her all day, not since I woke up this morning," she replies, chewing her spaghetti, "Did mom come home and make hte spaghetti?" [ignore that part, she never said that, i just wanted to put that in]

"She must be off on one of her business things again, funny, she usually tells us." We sit, chewing cold spaghetti for the next half hour, completely in silence. "Right, well then, you're off to rehearsals now. Are you walking?"

"Yeah, I'm walking back with Ashton," Frankie says.

"Oh, him. He's in my Physics class." I pile our plates, and put them in the sink. "Kinda old for you, isn't he?"

Frankie, thinking that I can't see, rolls her eyes. "Anyway, we've got that assembly tomorrow. Jess says that it's about why we shouldn't wear Calvin Klein during the fall."

"Jess is a blonde bimbo."

Rather than being offended, Frankie shrugs again. "Yeah."

"Have you started your homework yet? It's the second quarter and our report cards are coming up soon," I say, scrubbing at a spot of tomato sauce on a plate.
