fear
— the unpleasant emotion
when we know we'll be facing
the unknownthe unknown,
or maybe the "not-so-unknown"
because we were filled
with repressed awareness of the possibilities.when I was young
I was scared of the dark
and treated it as an enemy.
I bet we all didI was also scared
of the sounds made in the dark
the inaudible shuffling
and that slight cluttering noisebut as I got exposed to the light
things changed,
drastically.
almost unbelievablydarkness didn't worry me anymore,
the light did
noise was no longer the enemy,
it was silenceI would be held responsible
for every idle word and
for all the moments of silence.
I needed noise to be a friendI was liable in the light,
for every action was visible
every decision, every move
and everything that darkness once concealed
the uneasy feeling
was our comfort-zone
and staying in your room
will lead you to no destinationwe all have irrational fears
but all of those masked us from the truth
and maybe
the truth does set us freeI once feared
darkness and noise.
but now,
it's accountability.
