When They Leave

You never know when they leave,
You never know if they will come home.
They always say that they will try to find them,
Sometimes they are never more than another file.

She went to the grocery store,
And they found her car two days later.
They said that they would find her,
Not a call or even a letter years later.

He went to the playground with a friend,
They had done it time and time again,
Nobody noticed the van,
That is when you learn how long they expect them to last.

48 hours and they stoped calling their names,
They found him curled up under a tree,
And his friend ten hours later,
His funeral was two days later.

15 hours of labor and they had a daughter,
The nurse came in and said she was taking her to the nursery,
15 minuets later another came in and started a code,
This is when you learn code Pink means missing baby.

20 years later they still light a candle for her,
After a year or two they say there is nothing left to do.
Life goes on and family does to,
They say your other kids need you.

Take the time to hug your family,
And tell them to not wonder far,
Keep a close eye and keep them safe,
And you never know who it well be so tread carefully.

Because you never know when your time is up,
And you never know when they disappear,
There's never enough time to find the answer,
Because you never know when they leave.
