What Just Happened?

(chapter 4)

We go into the hospital, and it is packed!

There are people everywhere. Nurses and doctors are running around frantically.

Alex decided to stay with Laura while I looked for a doctor.

I went up to the desk and asked the lady it there was anyone available.

"Sorry hon, everyone has their hands full..."

"Do you know when there will be someone to help us?"

"I would say an hour, maybe longer..."

You gotta be kidding me...

I go back to Alex and tell him the news.

"But she needs help NOW!!"

"Oh don't worry. I'm not giving up, I'll keep looking,"

I start to walk around, looking into windows. I saw some scary stuff...

One guy had lost his legs, a woman's stomach was cut open, a poor little boy lost his arm...

It was torture...

I see a nurse and ask if she can help me, but she just brushes me off.

I keep looking. There is a whole wall gone on one side of the hospital...scary.

While I look in the windows, I see two familiar faces.

It was Charlie and Mackenzie!!

I go into the room and ask the doctor what happened.

"I'm sorry miss, I'm very busy right now, I can't answer your question..."

"Please! their my neighbours, at least tell me what happened, then I'll leave you alone!"

"... A car flipped over during the earthquake and crushed them... now if you could please leave, it would be appreciated."

"Fine. Thank you doctor"

I looked at them one more time.

Dear lord please let Charlie, Mackenzie and Laura be safe...

I leave the room and keep looking.

Half an hour of asking and looking later, I finally found a doctor available.

I rushed him over to Laura and Alex, and he took her into a room right away.

Hopefully she would be ok.

"Alex... I need to find my family and friends. I need to make sure their alright."

"Fine, I'm going to stay with Laura and make sure she'll be ok."

"Also, Charlie and Mackenzie are here, so I thought you could make sure their alright too."

Alex frowned and mumbled something, but I couldn't hear. Then he smiled and said,

"Alright. I'll look up on them too."

I was just about to leave when,

"Oh, and Amber?"

"Yes?"

"Good luck!"

"Thanks!!"

I walked out of the hospital and went back to my house to see if anyone was there possibly looking for me.

As I walk, I see dust and ash everywhere.

I feel like I'm in Hell...

And it is not a good feeling...

I finally get to my house and start looking around.

I didn't find anyone.

I was just about to leave when I heard whimpering.

...Nelson!!!

I start to call his name, but he didn't come.

So I started looking for him, listening for his whimpers so he can guide me to him.

Finally, I found him under the couch in the living room.

He jumped up on me and started licking my face.

It felt good to have found one of my family members.

I get up and start walking out of my house, Nelson following my every move.

For the first time that day, I felt overjoyed.
