Chapter 14
February 13th
Tasha really appreciated her sister being so kind and considerate during their talk the previous night. She most definitely was not going to break up with Adam; she was too loyal to him (just as Amy said he was). Now Tasha wished that she could take the next day off school, but her parents would not let her, so she was just going to have to stick to visiting Adam after school.
Tasha didn't mean to get so angry with Adam at the hospital but a part of her was reminding herself that he deserved it. Adam was in the wrong, not Tasha, and he needed to know how she felt.
But she did feel a little guilty now.
It wasn't long before Tasha had to stop thinking of this because she was called down for dinner. Now she was happy because a family dinner would be a good distraction from everything that had happened.
...
Isabella had finally done it.
She hoped.
Isabella decided to go downstairs to ask her foster parents about the barn and what happened.
But, when she was halfway down the stairs, Isabella lost her nerve. All of her courage that she had spent ages gathering had just floated off in the air. If she found it this hard to ask her foster parents what was going on now, would she even find the right time?
Isabella knew that she had to talk to her foster parents, but maybe she would have to do a little more research before she did. There was still one question that she really wanted answered; how did the barn burn down? Something bad must have happened if Mr and Mrs Doyle were so afraid to talk about it.
Isabella went back up to her room and she got the books out from under her bed. She begun searching through one of the books before she started reading the interesting sections. Isabella knew that she had already read most of this before, but she also knew that another look couldn't hurt.
As usual, there was nothing more in the books that Isabella needed to know. Maybe she had found all she could in the books and it was time to find something else to do her research with. Isabella then ran through what she already knew in her mind.
She knew what the barn was called; 'Star Rider Academy.'
She knew that the barn had burnt down.
She knew that the academy was started by Mr and Mrs Doyle when they were only married and young.
Maybe losing her courage to talk to her foster parents was lucky because she knew that she needed more information. The only problem was that she didn't know where to look for more information now. Going to the barn again was pointless because she had already found everything that could be found. Maybe the school library had some old newspapers that would help. Maybe that would be a good place to look.
With that sorted, Isabella decided to turn her attention to the news about Adam. Isabella couldn't believe that Adam could be so reckless and irresponsible. She thought he was being good and although he liked rebelling last year, he knew that it was wrong of him and he shouldn't have done it again.
Isabella then wondered whether she would feel comfortable enough to be his friend again. She wasn't as brave as Tasha. She wondered if he was really going to stop his drinking and stuff at parties. Surely waking up in hospital would be a good wake up call. Isabella hoped he would learn his lesson and grow up.
...
February 14th
The next day, Isabella was excited to be in morning homeroom. This was a new feeling for her because homeroom wasn't something that she would usually get excited over. She was excited for homeroom to finish because she had equine studies up first. This was Isabella's favourite subject and she liked studying about her favourite subject; horses.
