*Chapter One - The Sparrow*
(Riley's POV)
Right. Left. Right. Kick. Switch, repeat.
Sweat drips down my body as I assault the punching bag. My mouth dry, muscles aching, and my knuckles splitting at the force of my punches.
Right. Left. Right. Kick. Switch, repeat.
This isn't my normal morning routine, I go on morning runs, not assault the punching bag. But today was different, things are going to be changing from now on and I got to be ready.
Beep beep.
My alarm goes off, telling me it's time to stop. Grabbing the towel off of the floor I wipe the sweat off my forehead and make my way to the kitchen for breakfast.
I open my fridge, taking out one of my protein shakes. I absolutely love the chocolate ones. Well really anything chocolate, it's one of my guilty pleasures.
Once I finish my shake I throw it away and go across the hall to my room to get ready for a shower.
My room has cream colored walls and dark wood furniture. I have a small walk-in closet right next to the door and my dresser with a mirror is on the other side. My bedding is white with black accents, with my german shepherd, King, sleeping on the foot of my bed.
I walking into my closet picking out black leggings, a plain white t-shirt and my black leather jacket for work. And then I make my way the the bathroom for a shower.
Turning on the warm water I undress out of my sweaty clothes and hop in. I stand in here for a while just letting the water hit my back. I have always love taking long, hot showers. The feeling of your aching muscles relaxing against the water is my favorite. Trying not to be late I quickly finish up my shower.
After I dry off and change into my clothes I go back to my room to finish getting ready. Sitting on my bed I put on my heeled combat boots as King wakes up from his nap.
"Come on King it's time for work."
His ears popping up in excitement at my words. He hops off of my bed and runs to the front door as I grab my work bag.
Stopping in front of my mirror I check to make sure I have everything. I wouldn't say I was attractive, just average. Standing at 5'4'' with a curvy yet muscular build that is slightly tanned, shoulder length brown hair and jade green eyes that have purple bags under them for not sleeping as much. The purple seems to be a permanent thing now.
Shaking my head to stop those thought from coming, I make my way to the door where King is waiting.
The drive to work is uneventfully, King is just excited to get out of the apartment and to see Devon and Dominic, the twin brothers who I happen to call my best friends.
The Sparrow, my boxing gym that I built from the ground up, is the local gym that not a lot of people go to. If you live in the small town of Orshore, California, everyone knows everyone. It's hard to go unnoticed in a small town, especially one that loves gossip like Orshore.
I park my car in front of the gym, looking over at King, I say, "Ready for the day?"
He gives me two excited barks and with that we get out of the car and walk into the gym.
When you go through the front door the first thing you see is the front desk to the left of the door with Devon or Dominic working. And after that is my office, with a practice ring in the middle of the gym; to the back is some weights and bags.
