*Chapter Four - Fight Nights*
(Riley's POV)
It's been a few weeks since Kimmy came back. During those weeks everyone has been setting up for The Sparrow's Annual Fight Nights. It is a yearly competition that we host for fighters all around Cali to test their skills and get opportunities to meet sponsors. I used to be able to do this every years for four years now but with the big possibility of losing the gym, this might be the last. So we have to make it the best.
"Alright guys we can take a break now!" I yell out to everyone, "I order pizza!"
At the mention of food they all coming running to my office. Such animals they are. I shake my head and let out a slight chuckle as I follow them into my office.
"Hey Riles, do you think we are ready for tonight?" Devon asks with a mouth full of pizza.
"No talking with your mouth full!" Nova yells, a look of disgust written on her face.
Shaking my hand at the two of them I answer Devon's question, "We have to be, Dev."
I look around my office at all of these people that I can't afford to lose. The twins who helped me get back on my feet, Nova, the little sister that is a pain in my ass and finally Kimmy, my best friend who followed me across the world without question. One day I hope that I can repay them for all that they did for me, but for now all I can do is make sure that they are safe from him.
"Dom please, "Kimmy begs him as they stand outside of my office. I didn't even notice them leave.
Curious, I go and lean against the wall right next to the door. "I'm sorry, baby," Dom says to her with a gentleness to his voice, one that I have never heard before.
"I don't want to see you get hurt, Domy," She whispered to him.
"I won't. I promise. Someone has to represent the gym, baby. And I am the second best fighter here."
It went silent for a while and I decided to look around the corner. There I saw them holding each other in a tight embrace. Kimmy was tucked under Dominic, her arms wrapped around his waist and her hands clutching his shirt. Dominic's chin was resting on her head, his eye forced shut as if he wanted this to last forever.
Not wanting to ruin whatever moment they were having I decided to leave them alone for a little bit longer.
Seeing them like that didn't surprise me, they have always been close. Kimmy and Dominic helped each other out of their own form of darkness, they love each other even if they don't know it yet. And I can't wait for them to final realize it.
"Alright guys it's time," I say, looking around my office. "Devon and me will go and work the front, Nova will stay in here with King, Kimmy will show everyone where to go, and Dom can go get ready in the changing room."
And with that we all go and get ready for the rest of the night.
People pooled into the building, excited for what's to come. Money was throw every which way as people placed bets on who they thought would win. Sponsors sat at they top of the crowd, ready to pick their fighters, some already came with a fighter of their own.
The sponsors are people who basically own the fighters. Who ever placed a bet on a fighter the money will go to the sponsor and they will decided how much the fighter gets. And in return the sponsor provides the fighter whatever they need.
I have spent the last year trying to find a sponsor for The Sparrow, someone who will help me with the money. And today I am hoping to find one, but it isn't looking too good.
"ALRIGHT EVERYONE!" Kimmy yells into the microphone, her long black hair pulled up into a high ponytail that whips around as she turns. "Now that I have everyone's attention, let's get started."
"Let's give it up for all of the lovey fighters tonight!"
The crowd hollars as the fighters make their way out of the changing rooms. More money tossed around as they place even more bets.
Kimmy lets her eyes rome all of the fighters, stopping briefly on Dominic before she continues, "Alright, first fight of the night! In the Blue corner we have Cole Baxter and his sponsor Alexander Haynes, CEO of Haynes Protection!"
Wait, Haynes Protection?!
They are one of the biggest security companies in California. What the hell is the CEO doing in Orshore?
I whip my head towards the sponsors, my green eyes wide as they scan each one of them trying to find him. Suddenly my eyes stop on the last guy. His nameplate that sat in front of him read, Alexander Haynes.
Slowly my eyes traveled from the nameplate up his clean, crisp navy blue suit that hugged his broad shoulders and muscular arms perfectly. With the dark lighting I couldn't make out his facial features that much but his eyes are what stood out the most. They were the color of the night shy before it rained, the perfect dark blue, and they held a storm of emotions.
I didn't notice that he was also staring at me until I saw the slightest smirk appeared on his lips.
