*Chapter Seven - Firefly*
(Alexander's POV) *WOOP WOOP!*
Riley West, the woman who has caught my attention without even trying to. She is a puzzle that I want to figure out. As creepy as it sounds I have been watching her way before she saw me at her gym during the Fight Nights.
I had heard of her before, the mysterious woman who moved here and opened up a gym. It intrigued me, so one night after work I drove to the little gym.
She was getting ready to leave the gym, but suddenly turned around and walked back to the punching bags in the back. Trying to get a closer look at the small woman I walk up to the window, hoping she won't see me.
God I look like such a creep.
She drops her bag by the wall and juts out her hip as her eyes scan the gym.
Seeming satisfied at what she saw she walks up to the bag and gets into position in front of it.
With every punch she throws the fire in her eyes gets more intense and with every kick that hits the bag the more I get lost in the beauty of her. The punches and kicks go on for another thirty minutes and not once does she stop, almost as if she forgets where she is.
When I saw her at her gym searching the crowd after my name was called my heart started beating faster in anticipation. Waiting for her to finally see me.
And in that moment, that fleeting moment where our eyes met I swear the heavens cried out in glory. Because she searched into my soul in a split second and uncovered everything I had kept buried there. And in that moment, that fleeting moment where our eyes met I knew she was the one.
A knock on my door snaps me out of my thoughts, "Come in!"
My secretary, Becca, comes in, "Sir, a man by then name of Dominic is here to see you."
Dominic? Isn't that Riley's friend?
"Ah yes, send him in please."
Only a few seconds after she leaves Dominic walks in.
"Hello Dominic. Can I ask why you are here?"
"I'm here for Riley."
At her name I sit up from my couch and walk to my desk, "What about her? Is she okay?"
He chuckles at my words, "She is fine."
I let out a sigh of relief, "If she is fine then why are you here?"
"Since I met her, she carries more anger and pain than a thousand armies could ever bear. She was betrayed, deceived, and hurt. Believe me when I say she has already crossed hell. And the only time I saw peace in her eyes was when she saw you." Dominic says as he stares into my eyes. Sizing up my reaction to what he told me.
"My mother once told me that to make a girl fall in love, I had to make her laugh," I said as I sit down in my chair, "But everytime she laughs I slowly start to fall in love."
A look of surprise flashed across his face at my words. "I also came here to let you know that Riley can't train today."
"Why can't she?" I question, letting him change the topic.
"I found her at the gym this morning and apparently she didn't sleep at all last night so I told her to go home and sleep," He explained.
After Dominic left my office I made sure to call the guys and let them know that they didn't need to come in today for training. And then I picked up my things and so I can make my way to Riley's gym.
Closing my office door I make my way to the elevator but I get stopped right when I get there.
"Hey Xander, where are you going?" Cole questions me as we get into the elevator.
"Riley's," I answer him as I hit the button for the lobby.
"Riley? Isn't she the one who-"
"Yes Cole," I interrupt his as the elevators doors open.
Cole Baxter has been my best friend since we were in diapers. The man knows me better then anyone, and I him. So when he gives me a look that says I-know-what-you're-up-too you might want to get out of there as fast as you can. And that is exactly what I did.
Pulling up to The Sparrow I see that it is busy with a couple of people. Making up my mind I pull my phone out of my pocket and call Cole.
"What do you want Xander?"
I roll my eyes at his responds, "I want you to get me a file on Riley West."
And with determination filling my veins I hang up the phone and get out of my car. As I open up the front door I see a little ball of fur run past my legs to the office door behind the front desk.
"Mr. Haynes? What are you doing here at this time of night?" A girl, perhaps nineteen, asks me.
"I'm here to see Riley." I inform as I look at my watch and see that it almost ten.
"Well she should be here in a minute so if you want you can wait in her office," She says walking towards the room.
Turning to look back at me she asks, "Well? You coming?"
