Taehyung woke up the next morning, with that gut instinct he was missing something.
Or rather someone.
Moments of last night blanketed over him and his eyes immediately shot wide open.
He looked over to the crib to see a small child still buried under the pool of duvet, snoring slightly, and let out a sigh of relief. He noticed that one of its socks were missing and was a result of it probably moving around a lot during its sleep.
Taehyung poked the toddler's cheek and stifled a laugh at how it jiggled when he did.
Suddenly, the toddler's big doe eyes flung open and was staring straight into Taehyung's much smaller ones. He looked like a deer caught in headlights like this. The older stifled a laugh.
"Good morning little guy," Taehyung greeted and smiled slightly at him, whilst the younger just stared back simply, as if scanning his face. Taehyung figured the child was a cute one, and would probably grow up to be quite handsome, especially when he had his eyes wide open like this. They were the special feature that complimented his whole face.
Unfortunately though, as smooth as the morning seemed, the child's face contorted into something unpleasant and was soon in a fit of tears. Yeah, Taehyung was prepared for this.
He picked him up swiftly and tried his best to calm him down but to no avail. He set the child back down to check for a bad diaper, but it smelt nothing of manure.
Meanwhile, the toddler wouldn't stop crying and Taehyung realised the poor thing was probably starved to death after last night's encounter. But his kitchen only consisted of packet noodles and microwave pizzas, which can no way be stuffed down the child's throat.
To calm down the child, Taehyung rummaged around for Jimin's old toy, Mr Sprinkles, and he brought it up to the toddler's face, attempting to distract him from his crying.
It worked like a charm.
Taehyung smiled gleefully and started dancing the toy around his face, landing it onto the younger's lap. He was beyond relived he had stopped the child from throwing a bigger fit.
"You must be hungry, little guy," Taehyung cooed, watching the child nose at Mr Sprinkles' soft brown fur. "I don't have anything to feed you with, though."
He knew the distraction wouldn't last long. He had to attend to the child's needs as well.
So, while the small boy was busy fiddling with Mr Sprinkles' ribbon around his neck, Taehyung went in his toilet to freshen up and change.
After he was finished, he picked up the child, with the toy dangling from his hands, and carried him down his apartment into the street so they could go shop.

It was a cold morning then, and Taehyung had put on a thin hoodie, which was no match to the piercing wind blowing every five seconds.
The child had it worse though, with only a blue shirt on and diapers, he snuggled closely into Taehyung's neck while hugging Mr Sprinkles tightly. He was shivering a bit, but he didn't seem to complain, which was a miracle.
Soon they reached the market, which was a fortunate five minute walk from Taehyung's apartment.
Quickly, he grabbed a trolley and buckled the child into the infant seat and pushed it to the baby section.
First, he took diapers and baby food. Then he decided to get a few more clothes for the boy, as well as a jacket for it to wear in this cold weather. When everything was taken care of, Taehyung proceeded to the cashier to pay.
At the counter, he relentlessly placed each item on top for the woman to scan them. He didn't notice her staring intently at the toddler in his trolley.
After the lady had packed the items neatly into two carriers and was about to receive the payment from Taehyung, she spoke up, "You know your baby looks awfully alike someone I know," she smiled at the toddler. "They have the same big eyes. He's such a cutie, I hope you both have a good day!"
Taehyung smiled at the compliment before proceeding to pick the toddler up in one arm and carrying the grocery bags in the other.
It seemed like he wasn't the only one who got reminded of someone when looking at this toddler, he thought.

At home, Taehyung cleared out all his unused stuff in the storage room for the toddler to stay in. The child was sitting down obediently on Taehyung's bed while he proceeded to do the work.
Since he didn't buy a crib for the child, he decided to improvise, and used his old laundry basket as the bed frame instead. He also took out his old comforter and a bunch of pillows from his closet and beautifully decorated them inside the laundry basket.
It was awfully dull in the room, so Taehyung decided to change that. As much as he hated bright colours, he resorted to placing a curtain with blue stars on one window inside the store room.
He also figured the white "crib" needed a mobile attached to it, so he made his own, using a hanger and clothes pegs.
After a few more hours of shifting and swearing because why oh why did Taehyung not clear this room up before?, the room was looking great, and so Taehyung decided to bring the child in.
Hopefully the sweet thing would enjoy the little surprise Taehyung had worked so hard on.
