I looked at the group of children sitting in a circle in front of the random girl that decided to visit us today, and gritted my teeth as I spotted a small red head, happily singing along with the girl.
They were always so cheerful and careless, but he was the most happy one out of all of us. He got along with everyone very well, and always smiled, no matter what.
Honestly, I didn't get him. I didn't get anyone in this whole orphanage. They were always so bubbly, cheerful and careless, they didn't care that they practically had no family, they didn't care how brutal their storylines might be, or maybe didn't even know about it.
I wasn't the same. I was just always sitting in a random corner, watching them and getting lost in my dark thoughts. I always wore dark clothes and my hair was always in my eyes. Every single night, I cried my heart out, because my parents' brutal corpses' picture flashed in front of my eyes again and again and again and again... Then, to calm myself down, I sang a song, and practically sang myself to sleep.
Nobody wanted to befriend the 'weird emo' that would always sulk in the corner, and watch them like a creep...
Except one person.
That strange bubbly red head was always on my tail, saying that he wants to know my name, wants to play with me or wants to share his candy with me. I always ignored him or told him to leave me alone. He really pissed me off.
He eventually gave up on me after a certain amount of time, and I became the 'ghost girl', the girl which no one can see.

I was standing in front of Saotome Academy, watching as the snow slowly fell from the sky and flew through the air, eventually landing on the ground.
I was late, and I was here, staring at the academy. The guards, of course, didn't see me at all, so I could've just sneak in without anyone noticing, but honestly, I didn't care one bit about this school. My foster mother practically forced me to come here, or if I don't, she'll give me back to the orphanage. Not that I cared, I was 18 in one and a half year, so that didn't really stress me up, I just had no better things to do.
I sighed. I looked at the gate, and saw that the guards didn't let some random girl inside. The girl was desperately begging, squeaking and stuttering, and I rolled my eyes, knowing that this girl will be the innocent cinnamon roll that every guy will fall for, but will friendzone everyone.
All of a sudden, a guy ran towards the gate, bumping into me and sending me to the ground.
"Argh! What in the world...?" I cursed under my breath.
"Oh... A-Aaahh, I'm so sorry!!"
I opened my eyes, only to see a hand in front of me, wanting to help me. I looked up to see a guy with bright red hair and ruby red eyes. He looked at me worriedly.
"Are you okay?" he asked, a small pout making it's way on his face.
I blinked in surprise.
'This guy actually noticed me...' I thought to myself. He looked kind of familiar, but I shook off the feeling and stood up on my own, refusing to take his hand. "I'm fine. " I said bluntly, and simply walked inside, the guards completely ignoring me, focusing on the squeaky girl, who didn't look like she saw me either.3rd Person's POV
The red head's jaw dropped when the guards let the other girl walk in but refused to let inside the peach-haired girl.
"Hey! If you let the other girl in, let her in too! That's not fair!" he huffed, but the guards looked at him like he is crazy, and the peach-haired girl gave him an odd look too.
"There was not a single soul here, kid," one of the guards said.
The boy widened his eyes, "Eh...?"~■ Another time skippu ■~
Reader's POV
I was walking down the halls of the school. Tsukimiya-sensei sorted out the pairs for the next project randomly, but it seems I'm invisible for him too, because my name wasn't on the list. I'm getting the weird feeling that I'm really invisible, or perhaps dead, and not just ignorant.
"Hey! Hey, uhm, girl with [H/C] hair!"
I continued to walk. That must be someone else.
"Hey, matte, matte!"
The red haired weirdo from earlier ran in front of me.
"Gosh, you're a fast walker..." he whined and leaned on his knees to catch his breath.
"... What do you want?" I asked him.
[Note: This is an AU where Otoya doesn't end up with Nanami.]
"Uhm... Well, I was weirded out, because I didn't have a pair... And, uhm, I saw that people kinda think you're not visible so I thought that maybe--"
I clicked my tounge annoyence and continued to walk. 'People kinda think you're not visible.' Tch.
"W-Wait!" he ran after me, "I'm just saying, I think you are my pair for the project...!"
I ignored him.
"Please...! We need to do this project...! Together...!"
I sighed.
"Name's [F/N] [L/N]. Meet me outside in 2 hours."
And then I left him there.~■ Another time skippu ■~
"[L/N]-san!!!" I heard a voice behind me call. I sighed, and turned to see the red-head run towards me. He stopped in front of me, and gave a wide smile. "Hi!"
"..."
"Oh, by the way, I didn't even tell you my name! I'm Ittoki Otoya! I'm really looking forward to working with you, [L/N]-san!"
I rolled my eyes. "You're just like that kid from the orphanage..."
He widened his eyes. "Orphanage...?"
He was silent for a few seconds.
"So... That's why you were so familiar!" his eyes brightened. "You are the girl that I--" he cut off himself quickly, and his face flushed. "I mean... you're the girl that sang every night..."
"You heard that!?" I gasped.
"Yeah," he smiled, "you have a really pretty voice. I don't see the reason why are you a composer and not an idol."
"Tch... Because 'people kinda think I'm not visible'..." I rolled my eyes as I used his words.
"Eeeeh, gomenasai!!! I didn't mean to..."
"Don't mind it. They are right. I'm invisible..."
"Eh, don't say that!" Otoya pouted. "You're not invisible! You just... Have to act a little more social, and then it'll be alright..." he smiled.
"... It's not that simple." I pressed my lips together.
"Huh? Why?" he gave me a confused look.
".... I... I don't understand either... Why is everyone so careless? Why is everyone so happy? Why can't I be like that...? Why can't I... Forget the past...?" (IDK WHAT I'M DOING OK)
I felt as tears started to fall from my eyes.
".... [F/N]...." I heard Otoya mumble as I started to cry.
"Hey..." he took my face in his hands and smiled at me. "It's okay. Everyone has memories they don't want to remember. But hope we'll be always there in your heart. You just have to find it... But... I'll help you okay?"
I looked into his eyes. His eyes were full of hope and kindness. I bit my lips, nodded and gave a weak smile.
His smile grew and he continued to stare into my eyes, and I stared into his. The distance between us just grew smaller and smaller...
Until our lips met.
The kiss was short, but sweet. It was enough to forget about my past for a few minutes. It was enough to fill me with happiness.
Otoya broke the kiss, then awkwardly cleared his throath.
"Uhm... We should start writing that song," he muttered.
"We should," I nodded and looked away.
There was awkward silence for a few seconds.
"Otoya, you know we've just broken the academy's only rule, right?" I looked at him.
"We did?.... Oh my god we did." he facepalmed.~■♡■~
