Why she left

A certain ice wizard was sitting alone in the corner, wondering why Lucy hadn't shown up for the past two days. "Hey, Mira, what's up with Lucy? Why didn't she come to the guild?" He asked, totally worried.
Mira looked concerned, and said, "She took on a really dangerous job, Gray, one that was on par with an S-class mission. I hope she is alright!"
"Oh no...." The color faded from his face. He took one look at the job request, and saw that it was completed. That only meant one thing. Lucy was injured.
Anyway, just then the blonde mage came in. There were bandages around her head, and her arms. Wendy, Gray, Mira, Lisanna and Gajeel rushed towards her. "Lucy!" Gray cried in anguish. "Are you ok?!"
"Yes, I'm fine, Gray, just a little injured."
"Lucy san, what were you thinking?" Wendy scolded.
"Lucy, that job was madness!" Lisanna exclaimed, horrified.
Natsu strolled up, with Erza, and some others. "Taking down a puny dark guild? I could have done it without a scratch..." Erza declared.
"You're so weak, Lucy, and a slut. Anyone would think that after seeing your clothes! What a mistake I made when I brought you to Fairy tail. Jeez." Natsu grinned. Levy said similar things, and everyone began hitting her. Gray and Wendy did their best to stop it, but Lucy just left. She went to her apartment, and closed the door. The tears flowed down her cheeks, as she went into the bathroom and saw a blade.
Nobody needs me. My best friends don't care anymore. I'm just a replacement, a burden. The world will be a better place without me. I'm so sorry, my true friends, my celestial spirits... I love you all.... please find kind wizards who will love you like I do. Farewell.
And Lucy slashed her wrists deeply. Before she could do more, an enraged Aquarius, a furious Loke, and a terrified Virgo opened their own gates.
"Lucy, are you out of your mind?!" Loke screamed in rage.
"Brat, what do you think you're doing! I'll kill them all...." said Aquarius angrily.
''Princess, I beg you, stop!"
Lucy smiled weakly at her friends. "Loke...Aquarius.... Virgo... thanks for being with me. I love you guys, all of you." And she passed out. Aquarius quickly wrapped her wrists in clean gauze, and Loke burst into the guild.
Virgo, her usually emotionless face was filled with suppressed tears.
Aquarius had known Lucy since childhood, and truly cared for her.
As for Loke... she had saved his life, saved his friend... he was forever indebted to her. He really cared for her.
He just rushed into the guild, anxiety written all over his face, and ran to Wendy. "Help, Wendy!"
"Loke san!" Wendy said, surprised. "What happened?"
"Please, go to Lucy's apartment right now... she...." Wendy needed to hear no more. Carla immediately picked her up, and she reached Lucy's apartment.
"That girl's so weak that her spirits are coming to help her?" Natsu said with contempt. Loke snapped. His usual short hair turned long, and he was dressed in armor, instead of his suit. He went up to Natsu, and hit him with the power of regulus. Natsu fainted immediately. Then he went to attack Erza, until Virgo came in to stop his rampage. "Leo, Princess would not like you doing this..."
Gray interrupted in the middle, "What's wrong with Luce?"
"Come and see...." Loke said with inexpressible sorrow.
Gray and Wendy entered her apartment, and stood horrified. Lucy lay on the bed with bloodied bandages, her pulse almost non-existent. "Luce...." Gray said, breaking down. "Luce.... what have you done?" And he started sobbing. "Please, come back to me, Lucy, please live."
Wendy wasted no time in healing her, and Carla stood distant, yet terrified. "Lucy... why?"
"Why, you ask?" Aquarius said bitterly. "Because everyone, except a few people hated her. She's such a kind girl. I bet she thought the world would be a better place without her. Had we been a little late......"
Gray couldn't comprehend it. His beloved Lucy, the girl he loved with all his heart, whom he dearly cherished, could have died. He was standing blankly looking at the pale face with the blonde hair. "My love....." He whispered instinctively, unaware Aquarius had heard him. She said, "We will be leaving now. Take care of Lucy."
And her spirits left.
Gray, Wendy and Carla sat at her bedside. A dark aura radiated from Gray, and Wendy was sobbing uncontrollably. He put an arm around her shoulders, as she was like a little sister to him. He was crying himself.
"Why would she do this to herself, Gray san? Why would she do this to us?"
"I believe she thought she was just a replacement for Lisanna. I'll kill Natsu myself. Had Lisanna never come back.... no, I can't blame her. She cares deeply for Lucy. Wendy, should we tell everyone in the guild?"
"No, Gray-san, not yet. Lucy-san would not like it. However, I hate Natsu-san, Erza-san, for doing this! We used to be a guild that cared about our comrades. Why has everyone changed so much? WHY?!"
Seeing the normally calm Wendy lose her temper, he hugged her. "It's ok, sis. I'll take my revenge on the people who hurt the girl I love."
Wendy nodded.
After an hour or so, Lucy woke up. "Gray...." was the first thing she said.
"Luce... I'm here," he said tenderly. Lucy smiled weakly at him. And tried to sit up. Wendy helped her.
''Wendy? What are you guys doing here?"
Wendy tackled her and started sobbing. "Don't do that again, Lucy-san!"
Gray hugged them both and said. "Yeah, Wendy's right. We are there for you always, Luce. I am there for you. I almost thought I was going to lose you...."
"I'm sorry... I thought everyone will be happy if I am gone."
"No way, Lucy-san!"
"Never, Luce! You're so... so precious to me..." Gray broke down sobbing. Lucy laid her head on his chest, as he embraced her close. "Forgive me, Gray, forgive me."
They stayed in that position for a while, before breaking apart.
Gray and Wendy stayed over at her place that night.
Meanwhile, at the guild

Mira was worried, as she spoke to her little sister. "Hey, Lis, why do you think Loke burst in like that? What's going on with Lucy?"
"I don't know, Mira-nee," Lisanna replied, genuinely concerned. "I hope she is ok. Should we go check on her?"
"That's a great idea, Lis! Let's go," Mira said, her face brightening.
They went to her apartment, and knocked loudly, only to find Gray at the door. His face was ravaged by tears, his eyes were puffy, his face was filled with fire barely controllable.
"Gray?" Mira uttered, confused. "What's wrong?"
"Did you come to check on Lucy?" Gray asked in a monotone.
"Yes, we thought something was horribly wrong....." Mira's voice trailed away.
Gray motioned them inside. "After Natsu and Erza and the others hit her, she tried to kill herself. Had her spirits not stopped her in time, and had Wendy not healed her, she would have been dead."
Mirajane and Lisanna looked horrified. Mira was already crying, and Lisanna seemed to be in shock. "It's my fault... had I never come back...." She started. But Gray shook his head. "No, Lisanna. I think Luce is glad to have you as a friend. It's the guild, I don't know what's wrong with them. How are they the same people who always cared about their comrades? Lucy is her own person, and she has her own place amongst us, like anyone else. I will never forgive them for almost killing her," a dark aura radiated from him.
Lucy was still in her bed, and she heard the voices outside. Mira and Lisanna? She thought before drifting off to sleep again.
Next morning when she woke up, Wendy, Mira, and Lisanna had already left. Only Gray was sitting by her.
Her eyes fluttered open, as she saw the handsome ice wizard looking at her tenderly. "Hey, Luce. How do you feel? Any better?"
"Yeah, thanks, Gray. You were here all the time? Did you eat anything? You look awful." Lucy said, worried.
"Hey, I'm the one who should be worried. Do you know how upset I was when I saw you like that?! DON'T DO IT EVER AGAIN!"
"Ok, I won't," She smiled softly at the boy she was in love with. But thought inwardly about what she had to do and winced. Gray just kissed her forehead, and Lucy held him close.
"Thank you for everything, Gray."
''Are you coming to the guild, Luce?"
"No... I just need some space."
"Ok, precious, I'll go now. Take care, and I've prepared breakfast for you. It's on the table. I'll get going now," and Gray set off with another kiss.
