"Where the hell have you been?" I shouted at the drunken man stumbling through the door.
"Do you have any idea how worried I've been about you? Do you even care?" I cried. I ran my hands through my tangled hair and blinked away the tears threatening to spill from my eyes.
I was so mad at myself, I didn't understand why I stayed around, our life was a mess and our relationship was unhealthy. He was killing me the way he was killing himself. But I loved him.
He finally looked at me, as if he had only just realized I was even there "why even ask, you know where I've been" he muttered and walked past me to the bedroom.
I wasn't even mad, I was just disappointed, he didn't even want to try and get better.
I wasn't even mad, I was just upset, because I wasn't enough for him anymore.
"No! You don't get to do this to me, I deserve better than this!" I shouted at his retreating back and followed him into our bedroom. As usual the bed was unmade, the curtains closed, dirty clothes strewn across the floor and books in piles around the room.
"Exactly Dill, you just said it yourself,you deserve better. Your looking for an excuse to leave? Well this is it! I'm not getting better, I'm getting fucking worse OK, so leave" he shouted while tearing off his top and revealing his toned pale chest and inked skin.
"You know I cant do that Linc, you know I cant" I sobbed.
I was weak and in love but I had to be strong for him, I was the only thing keeping him from losing himself. I could feel the tears streaming freely down my face now and I fell to the floor and curled into a ball at his feet.
His jeans fell to the floor in a heap beside me, before he joined me on the floor and wrapped his arms around my trembling body. His fingers gently brushed my hair calming me down, and I turned to face him when he kissed the back of my neck.
With no words said, he slowly removed my top and held my half naked body against his.
"I know" he whispered.
