Chapter 52

Audrey's POV

My mom out a bandaid on my elbow where I had cut myself from falling, or I guess from being pushed, and we got back into the canoe, remaining silent.

I'm not quite sure how we did it but we were able to go in a straight line for the most part. We were still slower than our mom and Chris, but we were slowly making it.

"Audrey, look I'm sorry" I kept my back to him and continued to paddle, "hey, Audrey."

"Mom told us not to talk. Leave me alone."

"I'm just trying to apologize" he stops paddling and I know this is going to south quick, "why do you have to be so stubborn and not accept my apology!"

"Because I'm not about to get fucking in trouble for crossing mom! I've done it enough times and being in vacation isn't the best time. I accept you apology and whatever. Just shut up"

"And whatever? I'm trying to be nice!"

"Shut. Up. Mason."

"Hey! what did I say about you two arguing!" our mom turns around in their canoe and looks at us.

"I told you." I mumble under my breath and push forward.

The next two hours of silence was pure hell. My mom was joking with Ed and they later attach Chris to their boat, letting him get into the canoe and sit. They were laughing and having a great time and I'm stuck in this dumb ass canoe with my shithead of a brother.

"Audrey! look! it's a snake!" I turn around to see Mason holding a snake up on his paddle, "isn't it cool!?"

"Oh my God!" I screech in terror and try to move away from it.

Mason it's startled by my reaction and drops the snake in the boat, "shit! Audrey!"

"Get It out! Get it out!" I scream again and jump on my chair, "Mason! get it out!"

He chuckles, "it's not going to bite you Audrey, just settle down" he grabs the snake from under me and puts it to my face, "just look at that cute little face"

"Mason stop! get it away from my face!"

"It's not going to hurt you, it's a water snake" he let's it slither up his arm and then he fake throws it at me.

I jump back in terror again, only to find myself falling out of the boat and back into the water, "careful, there might be more snakes in there" he joke

"Ah!" I scream again and start splashing water at him, "you're not funny!"

"Shit, Audrey sit still." The humor in his eyes is now gone and he's staring next to me, "there is a huge ass snapping turtle right behind you"

"Fuck, fuck, Mason! get rid of it!"

"Just stop moving Audrey!" he throws the snake back into the water and grabs his paddle

"Don't throw the fucking snake back in here!"

"Mom!" he screams for the boat ahead of us and they all stop, "I don't think they're supposed to attack unless they're frightened, so just calm down"

"I'm in a snake and turtle infested water! how am I supposed to calm down!? and it smells!" I splash my hands on the top of the water and continue to tread

"Audrey, you're not making this any better"

"If it weren't for you little fucker I wouldn't be in this water in the first place!"

His eyes stay behind me and my moms boat comes up, "what the hell is going on over here!"

"Mom, don't get any closer, please" his paddle is up in the air and has a dead stare on the water behind me.
