Chapter 14: Everything's planned out

Niall and I stepped out of the room as Dad was talking to the doctor. I held Niall's hand as we walked back and forth down the hall waiting for Dad to come out so we could go home. I couldn't wait to see how Mum and Max were doing.

Dad comes out in the hallway with a bag in his hand. He nods his head and walks in front of us leaving the hospital. The cab driver drives us to the airport to our flight back to Australia.

We all sat on the side of the plain leaving Niall by the walking lane, Me in the middle, and Dad by the window. We were only going to be in the plane for maybe about an hour or so. Dad was really tired once we got on the plane, right when we got to our seats, he fell asleep on the window, while I placed my head on Niall's shoulder. I watched Dad sleeping in the corner of my eye and smiled. He looked peaceful when he slept.

"We will be landing in a few moments. Please pack up and gather your things folks." The flight attendent announced. I shook my Dad awake, he moaned something quietly to himself smiling. I looked confused and got my Dad's bag out, under his seat. He opened his eyes and smiled down.

Niall and I held hands while we got out of the airplane. Dad walked in front of us looking around at everyone, and everything. He hasn't been in Australia in such a long time.

"I'll be right back, I got to go the restroom." I said as I let go of Niall's hand. Niall told my dad and they both nodded. I walked around the whole airport looking for the fucking restroom. This place was huge and needed some restroom signs.

I finally found it, I actually passed it a few times. As I walked into the first stall that was open, someone forgot to flush..Okay, let's go to the next stall. Someone also forgot to flush. If stall number three is not flushed, I'm going to leave. I opened the third stall with my foot, sparkly clean. I did my business, flushed, washed my hands and left the restroom. As I got out, it was packed with a lot of people. I even got bumped into the ground because people were hurrying to get their luggages. I took a deep breath and walked to the side. I tried turning on my phone, but bad luck. Batteries dead.

The line kept going slowly, so I just instantly gave up. I sat in the corner of the airport, looking at the ground. People stared at me, probably wondering if I was weather drunk or not. I can't believe, I went to the restroom, got pushed around in the crowd, and now sitting in the corner of an airport, waiting for Niall or Dad to spot me.

I covered my face with my hands and waited for them to spot me. A sudden Irish voice says, "We've been looking for you, where have you been Ashley". I looked up and saw a blonde smiling down at me. Niall helped me up and we ordered a cab back home.

We stepped out of the cab and stood in front of the house. Mum and Max had no idea that we were coming back home today. I got the keys from my pocket and slipped it in the slot, turning it. I opened the door knob and looked inside. Everything was where it was the last time I was here and it was awfully quiet.

"This is our house?" Dad asked looking around. I nodded and went to the living room for a quick nap. I charged my phone once I got upstairs and looked in Max's room. He wasn't there. Theater room? Nope. Mum's room? Empty.

I ran downstairs and picked up the home phone, dialling Max's cell phone number. He answered confused, since no one was home. This is how our conversation went:

M: Hello, is this a cookie monster?
A: Max, it's me. Where are you?
M: I'm here in the hospital with Mum. Where are you?
A: Okay, I'm coming over there with a surprise. Is Mum okay?
M: Okay, let me just say. She's sleeping right now.
A: Alright, bye.

We ended our conversation and placed the phone back in it's charged place.

"Hey, let's go to the hospital. Mum and Max are there. Wait, where's Niall?" I asked Dad. He pointed at the door and shrugged. He went home with out saying good bye, okay then. I got in our white small car while Dad sat in the passengers seat. I turned on the car and drove off to the hospital.

We walked over to the front desk for information. The lady kept winking at my dad, making me make a gagging noise. He laughed. I walked to the elevator and pressed 3. Once the elevator opened up, we walked over to room 10. I knocked on the door softly, making Dad nervous. How was Max going to react?

"Ashley! I missed you." Max said hugging me. I smiled, while Max studied Dad. Dad looked at Max, you could feel a special bond when he looks into his eyes. Max had all of Dad's features while I had Mum's.

"Are you..Who I think you are?" Max said looking up at him. Dad smiled and nodded at him, bending down to his eye level. Max gave him a big hug, not letting go for a few mintues. I walked over to Mum, she was dressed in the hospital gowns. She peeked her eyes and smiled down at me. I smiled back, holding her hand. She rubbed her thumb over my hands not taking sight off of me.

"I'm sorry I left you." I whispered to her. A tear came rolling down her cheek. I wiped it off, while she sat up.

"W-Who's that over there Ashley?" Mum asked concerned. I smiled and Dad and gave him a signal to motion him over here. I let go of Mum's hand and walked over to the opposite side of her.

"That's Dad." I whispered. She looked at him frowning. Dad held her hand, placing his head on her hands. I smiled and sat next to Max on the bench.

"Welcome back Joe. How was your life?" Mum asks. Dad looked surprised. 'How was your life?'. Did my Mum not like Dad being here? Her birthday is in a few days and all she could say is that? I grabbed Max's hand and guided him out the door, letting them stay for a talk.

-Mum's point of view-

"Why didn't you come back?" I asked Joe. He sighed and walked over to the bench.

"You know you caused me here right? Filling me with so much stress, leaving me to take care of two kids alone. IT WAS HARD. You didn't even fucking bother to call or say how you were doing." Instead of a steady voice, it turned more into yelling.

"Their was no phone service. I did try calling you each day. You know my future was to go to Marines. Now your making up fucking lies and bullshit?" He said back. I rolled my eyes and looked at the door.

"Please-"

"No, I'm sorry. I got attacked when were doing a practice test for fighting over with another country, I was in the hospital for a few months, thank god your daughter found me. If she didn't, I would be living alone without you and the kids." I got up from the hospital bed, walking towards him. He looked at me and smiled. I smiled back and sat down next to him.

"You still remembered Ashley?" He nodded and hugged me. I smiled and looked at the clock. The doctor said I could leave whenever I wanted, I just wanted to wait for Ashley to come back.

"You know I can leave the hospital now? I was just waiting for Ashley." I said. Ashley and Max came flying through the door and ran to us. I laughed and hugged Ashley.

"Mum, I missed you." Ashley whispered.

"I missed you too. Shall we check out now?" They all nodded in delight, and I changed into my clothes. Joe checked out for me, while I grabbed my things and headed out the door. They all waved me a goodbye while I was leaving the hospital. I waved them a goodbye back and walked over to the small car.

-Ashley's Point Of View-

I got in the drivers seat while Dad and Max sat in the back. We were now a full family, just like I've dreamed of everything. It all came true.

My phone started to buzz, in which I couldn't read it yet. Mum told me eyes on the road. I followed her orders and waited until we got back home.
