Lydia Martin had lived in the same town since she was born. She knew all her neighbors, everyone she went to school with, and she was tired of it. Her dad was never home and her mom taught at the local elementary school. Sounds like a pretty boring life, right? Lydia had always wanted to explore the world, and move out of the small town she lived in. It was the summer before her senior year, and she just wanted to make some memories with her best friend Malia. One day, they decided to leave their small town in Alabama and drive to California. They made hotel reservations, booked tours to see all the amazing landmarks, and researched the best restaurants in town.
